Memorial service for Mr. Jessie Thornton Harris "Papa Thornton", 68, of Ohatchee will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ohatchee First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Caudle Officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Mr. Harris passed away August 2, in Jacksonville. Survivors include his daughter, Tammy LaBerge (Dave), of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his son, Steven Harris (Crystal), of Heflin; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, Eugene Harris (Jeanette), of Florida; several nieces and nephews; special friends Lamar Crosson (Cathy), Jerry Hale(Mickey) and Kristi Owens. Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Mama Trish" Harris; parents, Maeward and Mittylene Harris; daughter, Kathy Taylor; sister, Ann Harrison; brothers, Arnold and Morris Harris. Mr. Harris was a native of Clay County and a resident of Calhoun County. He graduated Lineville High School and was a member of Ohatchee First Baptist Church.
