Graveside services for Mr. Austin Sanford Kimberly Sr., 95, of Anniston, will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Forestlawn Gardens with the Rev. David Rice officiating. Mr. Kimberly passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. An Alabama native, Mr. Kimberly served his country during World War II in the Coast Guard as a member of the North Atlantic Fleet. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, where he served as a deacon and elder, was the church treasurer, played piano for the Sam Russell Sunday School Class for over 60 years, and was active in the Bell Choir. Mr. Kimberly was an alumni of the University of Alabama, Theta Chi Fraternity, and was the editor of the 1937 UA Yearbook, "Corolla". He was retired from Kimberly Realty, where he worked for 22 years. Mr. Kimberly is preceded in death by his wife, Jolly Kimberly; five sisters; and one brother. Survivors include a daughter, Victoria K. Birdsall, of Ashland; a son, Austin S. "Kim" Kimberly Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Anniston; grandson, Denton S. Kimberly, of Anniston; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Kimberly and Emily Kimberly, both of Anniston; niece, Barbara Ashbaugh, of Winslow, Alaska; nephew, John Jolley and his wife, Elaine, of Shorter; and two great-nieces, Pam Stampley, of Wetumpka and Carol Doyle, of Anniston. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sam Russell Sunday School Class and members of the Bell Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Anniston. In lieu of flowers, the Kimberly family requests that donations are made to First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, 1701 Henry Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
