Talladega - Funeral service for Charles Hugo Molliston, 70, will be Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Talladega. Following a private interment at Pine Hill Mausoleum, the family will receive visitors in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church for a "Celebration of Life" from 4 – 6 pm. Mr. Molliston died peacefully on May 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his beloved family and life-long friends. He was born in Talladega, Alabama on September 17, 1942 to Bertie Patterson Hocutt and Hugo Clinton Molliston. He was a graduate of Talladega High School (1960) and Athens State College (1966). He was a member of the Alabama National Guard for five years. From 1974 to 1995 he was employed at Talladega Foundry and Machine, where he served in various capacities. In 1995 he became a partner at ATAP, Inc. of Talladega, Ala. On June 26, 1992 he married Barbara Taylor Molliston, of Decatur, Ala. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bertie Patterson Hocutt, A.M. Hocutt, Jack Hammond and Hugo C. Molliston. He is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Barbara Taylor Molliston, of Decatur, Ala.; four children, Janie Molliston Evans, of Birmingham, Ala., Meg Molliston, of Talladega, Ala., Laynee Mitchell Kontos, of Destin, Fla., Brad Mitchell, of Birmingham, Ala.; four grandchildren, Mali Margaret Cofield and Lauren Lee Cofield, of Talladega, Ala., Mary Brennan McWilliams, of Destin, Fla., and Caroline Elizabeth Mitchell, of Birmingham, Ala. and one sister, Prissy Hammond Welch, of McCaysville, Ga. Mr. Molliston was an active citizen of Talladega. He was committed to his family, his church and his community, dedicating his life to the service and betterment of all those around him. He had been a member of dozens of community and civic groups throughout his life including the Red Door Kitchen, the Red Cross, Citizens Hospital, Heritage Hall, Friends of the Ritz, April in Talladega, the Education Foundation and so many others. He was a life-long, active member of First Baptist Church of Talladega where he served as a Deacon, choir member and member to various church committees. Pallbearers are Chipper Washburn, Tommy Griffin, Roy Washburn, Shannon Cheatwood, Patrick Porteous and Dell Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Talladega, P.O. Box 696, Talladega, AL 36853, Rainbow Omega, P.O.
