James Daniel Buttram Obituary

Piedmont - James Daniel Buttram, 66, of Piedmont, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2013 at his home. Danny was born in Esom Hill, Georgia on April 18, 1947, the son of James and Margaret Buttram and brother of Cordelia (Debbie) Pruett. He was predeceased by his mother. Danny also had one nephew, Charles E. Bryan III; one niece, Tammy Brooks; one great-nephew and one great-niece. Danny graduated from Jacksonville State University. Following his schooling, Danny entered the U.S. Navy and served with the Ninth Infantry Division. He was wounded in 1969 during battle in the Vietnam War. He received several decorations and medals, including a Purple Heart. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Piedmont. Burial with military honors will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight, June 8, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
