Funeral services for Mr. Randy Waldrop, 60, of Ashland, will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church with Bro. John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Waldrop passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. A native of Calhoun County, he grew up in Saks and was a graduate of Saks High School, Class of 1972, where he played the cymbals for the Saks High School Marching Band. Mr. Waldrop was employed by Pasquale's Pizza and married Mae Bonds in 1974 before relocating to Clay County in 1979. He was employed by SunnyFresh Farms for seven years, Ace Products for 13 years and was an avid Auburn fan. He was also a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church. Mr. Waldrop is survived by his wife, Mae B. Waldrop, of Ashland; one daughter, Jennifer L. Waldrop, of Ashland; his father, Joe Waldrop (Binnie), of Alpine; his mother, Gwinette Johnson (Don), of Jacksonville; one sister, Katie Waldrop, of Alpine; three brothers, Rodney Waldrop, of Prattville, Michael S. Waldrop, of Green Bay, Wis., and Kinnith B. Waldrop, of Nashville, Tenn., and his bodyguard, Patch. Pallbearers will be David Nolen, Harold Saxon, Gary Parker, Robert Bonds, Perry Bonds and Glen Bonds. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Monday, July 29, 2013, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. and until one hour prior to service time.
