Munford - Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Edward Lackey Sr., 91, will be Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Munford Baptist Church. The Reverends Tim Thomas and William Casaday will officiate and burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega. Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennett Rue Lackey and Corrine Hobbs Lackey; stepmother, Mary Lackey and brothers, Leroy Lackey, Fred Lackey and Edward Lackey. Mr. Lackey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Jean Hewitt Lackey, of Munford; daughter, Melanie C. Berry (Don), of Mobile; sons, Tom Lackey Jr. (LaDonna) and William Lackey (Susan), both of Pensacola, Fla.; brother, J.C. Lackey, of Pineville, W.V.; sisters, Polly Phillips, of Alexandria, Pearl Watts (Floyd), of Munford, and Ann Stephens (John), of New Hope; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Lackey was a native of Clay County and a resident of Munford for most of his life. He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after 45 years of service. He was a member of Munford Baptist Church, the Lions Club and the Alabama Campers on Mission. He served 12 years as trustee of Munford Schools and was chairman of board of directors of Munford Health Clinic. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Gunter, Ted Lackey, Eric Graben, Fred Pierce, George Armbrester, and Bobby Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Woodard, Clarence Smith, Bobby Fuller, Milton Cochran, and Jerry Coley. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Munford Baptist Church Building Fund.
