Mavis Martin Turner, 85, of Ansonville, surrounded by her loving family, passed away, Wednesday evening, May 28, 2014 at her home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Red Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Rodney Clements will officiate and interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Turner was born Sept. 30, 1928 in Anson County to the late James Earl "Jack" Martin, Sr. and Rena Elizabeth Tyson Martin. She was a 1945 graduate of Ansonville High School and a 1952 graduate of Cleveland Memorial Nursing School. She joined Red Hill Baptist Church in 1940 and remained an active member, serving as Sunday school teacher and member of the choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lawrence Turner Sr., who died in 1982, and brother, Lincoln Martin, and sister, Daphne Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Daphne LuAnne Turner Johnson and husband, Greg of Greensboro; sons, Paul L. Turner Jr. and wife, Lynn and Dennis M. Turner and wife, Susan, all of Wadesboro; brother, J. E. Martin Jr. and wife, Lucy of Ansonville; sister-in-law, Sara E. Martin of Ansonville; grandchildren, Paul L. Turner III, Mariah Turner, Stephanie Paige Turner, Dana Martin Turner and Lucas Hyatt Turner.
