Grace Keane Obituary
AGE: 90 • Lakewood
Grace C. Keane, died on Thursday, August 11, 2016 of kidney failure at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. She was 90 years old.
The daughter of Loretta and Emil Frank was born in Elizabeth and graduated from Battin High School. During World War II Mrs. Keane worked at Newark Airport in the Army's Lend-Lease program. After the war she married John Keane, an Exxon refinery employee, and they moved to Linden. Mrs. Keane was an active member of St. Elizabeth's Parish and Home-School Association where she chaired the bingo fund raisers. After her children were grown, she worked in retail at the Libby Shop in Elizabeth and Shop Rite in Linden. Mrs. Keane and her husband moved in 1984 to Leisure Knoll in Manchester, where she lived until she became a resident of Leisure Park, Lakewood in 2012. Her husband died in 2010. Mrs. Keane enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and following the New York Yankees, especially Derek Jeter.
Mrs. Keane is survived by her two sons, John J. Keane Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Baltimore, MD and Jeffrey P. Keane of Point Pleasant Beach. Also surviving are her grandsons Peter Keane of Phoenix and William Keane of Brooklyn and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road at Hwy 70, Brick, NJ 08724. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, August 16th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martha's Church in Point Pleasant with entombment to follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.
