I have many memories of Richard J Colbert, or just Colbert as I used to call him as a former student at Oakwood School. It was a shock to hear of his passing this past May. I still carry memories of playing football, and cards with him. Although I never was in his class, knowing him enhanced my life. Thanks for the memories Colbert.

My deepest condolences to Sarah, Bill and Kathy. Rich was my lifelong friend. and as young kids we were teammates in Little League and Basketball. . There are hundreds of stories to share as we grew and each one makes me smile. From surf trips to ski weekends and just enjoying everyday life. Rich was a true friend who you could always count on to be there if needed. He was loved and will be missed by all. You can't replace lifetime memories and lifelong friendships. They are truly special as was Rich. It's very difficult to put a persons achievemnts in one paragraph but I would have to say his most proudest and most loving moments were for his daughter Sarah. . Fare thee well my friend, RIP. .

Sarah and family,
May fond memories of the past give you comfort at this difficult time.
Rich was a good guy and I remember a conversation with him about his Dad still living in Parkchester and he wanted him to move here.
Being from the Bronx and not to far from where his Dad lived, we spoke for quite a while and he left such a good impression on me.
May he rest in peace.

My husband and I have known Eggy for over 50 years. We were at your parents wedding Sarah and he was at ours. We would all go to the beach together and by 2 or so in the afternoon both of us would be fried and complaining and the rest of the crew wanted to stay , we would be wrapped in anything we could find. That is a wonderful picture of your Dad. May he rest in peace and that you find some solace in all your memories. He was a great guy.

Rich was my first brother in law - I will always remember him at our wedding over 45 years ago being his brother's best man and he didn't where to put the garter belt - he kept his brother and I on our toes - we will miss him - I am there in spirit and he and Sarah are always in my prayers.

I met Eggy (Rich) in the summer of 1977 when he was a lifeguard on Belmar. He was so much fun and funny! I saw him pretty frequently at get-togethers and occasionally in the grocery store. He was so smart and very kind. He loved teaching and the kids. I'm so very sorry for your loss. May God bless you in your time of grief.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

I grew up with Eggy, (Richie Colbert).
We went to the Super Bowl, driving down from the Bronx with the Purdy Street crew. While attending the NFL Super Bowl party at Hialeah Race track, some one came up with great idea of taking one of the Flags at the track for a souvenir. Eggy and myself started lowering down a flag when the race track police began to usher us into a squad car. A head official at the NFL recognize us and told the police to let us go. We headed back
North and didn't see the Super Bowl.
Eggy, God Bless you and your family,

Rich, I will miss you, we will all miss you. You were so smart, friendly and very original. Like having an aerial photograph of the school, and surprising the staff by having a sign pulled by an airplane over Monmouth Race Track on the staff's last day of school wishing us a happy summer.
You were such a fun person, you tried your hand at painting and were wonderful with the children in our school. You will be sorely missed.
I pass along my condolences to the family, and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers through this very trying time.
Love, Rosalie
