AGE: 82 • Hazlet

Charles A. Baker, 82, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Charles was born on Aug. 22, 1930 in Jersey City, where he grew up. In 1963, he and his wife, Lorraine, settled in Hazlet to raise their family. Charles was the founder of C&C Air Conditioning Co. and was also retired from General Motors Co. in Linden. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War and was also a member of the Irish Federation, Knights of Columbus Keyport Council.

He was predeceased by his parents, James F. and Leah (Watman) Baker; his brother, Raymond Baker; and his brothers-in-law, Edward Zippo, James Castrovilly and David Bauer. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lorraine A. Baker; his loving children, Charles R. Baker and his companion Michael Herman of Morganville, Brian J. Baker and his wife Jennifer of Port Monmouth, Linda Ann Meyre and her companion Robert Mahoney Jr. of Hazlet, and Christopher H. Baker and his wife Carol of Morganville. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Brian N. Baker, David Lee Meyre Jr., Christopher Baker Jr., Cassidy, Alexis, Joseph, Charley, Brian and Hailey Baker; his dear sisters, Dorothy Castrovilly and Leatrice Zippo, along with his sisters-in-law, Eileen Bauer and Joan Strehl and her husband Louis. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 and from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at St. Benedict R.C. Church, Holmdel. Entombment, Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. So sorry to hear we lost Charlie, he was the reason I am were I am today. Giving me a job a app. to get me a job at G.M. for which I am now retired. He was a great man, and I'll alway remember his great personality, and loving heart. I am deeply sorry to his family and friends. Charlie, you were a big part of my life. R.I.P. God Loves You.
