Alfred Sumsky Obituary

Alfred J Sumsky

AGE: 73 •

Alfred J. Sumsky, 73, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 12, 2016. He was born in NY,NY and was a Neptune resident for 38 years. He was a kind, generous, and loving man who enjoyed getting to know people. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his daughter Becky, his son Alex and his wife Kathryn, and his two grandchildren, Abigail and Luke (the lights of his life), his sister Marilyn and her husband Angus, numerous nieces and nephews, and dozens of cousins, all whom he loved dearly. A former newspaperman man, Al worked the last 20 years as the "guy at the door" at BJ's in Ocean, which was a job that he truly loved. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project and The M.S. Society. Family and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. Condolences may also be offered online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.

To the Sumsky Family my condolences to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Al was my buddy at BJ's we would always kid around with each other he was a very nice man. I had no idea that when i spoke to Al on Saturday that would be the last time that i would speak to him. I will surely miss him. Rest in peace my friend until we meet again.

Al,
We heard the sad news today. My wife and I had many fond memories with you entering and leaving BJ'S for many years. We never knew that our last talk would be last Friday asking you when you'll be going to Florida for your annual family visit and watching Spring training games. We want to send our heart felt condolences to the family members. We'll always remember your kindness, smile, and your humor. RIP
