Janette D. (Greig) Babcock
AGE: 87 • Brick
Janette D. (Greig) Babcock, age 87, of Brick, NJ, died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at her home. She was born in Jersey City, was raised in Kearny and lived in Redondo Beach, CA before moving to Brick in 1964. She was a graduate of Kearny High School in 1942 and a graduate of Ocean County College with an AA degree in Business Administration in 1979. She was employed as a Bookkeeper for many years, last employed by Dee Rose Furniture in Brick; retiring in 1987. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #134 of Wall. She was an avid crossword fanatic, loved walking, was notorious for her sweet tooth and most of all, she loved spending time with her dear grandsons, who lovingly called her "G".
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 40 years, Frank S. Babcock in 2002. She was also predeceased by her parents James and Wilhelmina Greig and her sisters Grace McMahon, Elizabeth Greig, and Margaret Parolski. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lillian G. Mahaffey and her husband, Brian C. of Brick; her brother, Norman J. Greig and his wife Anita; two grandchildren, Ryan Samuel and Maxwell James; and several nieces & nephews, and several great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday, December 10th, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Colonial Funeral Home - 2170 Highway 88, Brick. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Inc., Central Jersey Chapter - 740 Broad St., Suite 4, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.
