Rita G. (Carrano) Battista
AGE: 80 • Wall
Rita G. (Carrano) Battista, 80, of Wall, passed away at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012. Mrs. Battista was born and raised in New York City. She then lived in East Brunswick, Englishtown and Whiting, as well as with her daughter in Howell, before recently moving into Sunnyside Manor, Wall. She was a Purchasing Agent for Bristol-Meyers-Squibb, North Brunswick, before retiring. She was a gourmet cook and a card shark, who enjoyed visiting the casinos of Atlantic City.
Mrs. Battista was predeceased by her parents, Raymond J. and Jenny (Vertulo) Carrano, as well as a brother, Raymond J. Carrano, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda A. and Kenneth Zastocki, of Howell; her grandsons, Christopher, of Howell, and Matthew and his wife Amanda, of Toms River, and 3 great-grandchildren, Ariana, Tyler and Colton. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Pasquale and Maria Carrano, of Florida, several nieces and a nephew, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Saturday, December 29, 2012, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. William the Abbott Church, Howell, followed by interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Battista's memory to Meridian Foundation (for Meridian Hospice-JSUMC), 1300 Campus Parkway, Neptune, NJ 07753, would be appreciated. Rita was like a second mother to me.She could aways make me smile .I loved her great sense of humor she made me know that no matter what was going wrong in my life it would be ok and it would get better.
I will miss you more then i can sayI will always have you in my heart and when i see a beautiful butterfly i will know Rita is with me .
I want to thank the family for sharing Rita with me letting me by in their family.
Goodbye for now Rita I love you.
We will laugh together again and have a piece of cake.
