Daniel L. Traverso, 81, of Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013. Born in Spring Lake on October, 20, 1931, he was the son of Dr. Daniel Traverso and Rose (Rymond) Traverso. He spent his early years in Spring Lake Heights and was a graduate of Manasquan High School , Class of 1949. He attended Monmouth College, West Long Branch, Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pa and Rider College, Trenton. Dan served proudly as a US. Army paratrooper during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the American Legion. His early married life was spent in Belmar, where he ran his business, the Harry Walter Co., selling class rings and athletic awards to schools throughout the state. He was a member of the Belmar Board of Education from 1959 to 1969. He later moved to Wall Twp., then to Ocean Township before settling in Seabrook Village In 2004. He enjoyed family activities and traveling with his wife. He often took his son and twin grandsons to Yankee games and took his other grandson Halloween shopping every year.
Dan is survived by his wife, Joan ((Walter) of 60 years, his daughter Lorraine Golom and her husband Robert, his son Douglas and his wife Beth Tipper and three grandsons, Damon Traverso, Devin Traverso and LTJG (USN) Ryan Golom and his wife Hanna.
Visitation will be Monday, March 18, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O'Brien funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, N.J. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls, N.J. In lieu of flowers please send a donation in Dan's name to the Belmar First Aid Squad Organization, P.O.
