Hipolito "Paul" Acevedo Baez AGE: 63 • Perth Amboy Hipolito "Paul" Acevedo Baez, 63 of Perth Amboy, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. Paul was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico and came to Washington Township in 1968 then to Perth Amboy 42 years ago. He was employed by Gerdau Ameristeel, Perth Amboy for 29 years as a Furnace Helper. Paul is preceded in death by his loving parents Pedro and Maria ( nee Baez ) Acevedo and 3 brothers. He is survived by his devoted children Carrie, Jeremy and his wife Janice Acevedo; loving brother of Matilde, Daniel, Herminio "Harry" Acevedo; adored grandfather of Thomas, Jalen, Justin, Maya, Juliet & Jeremy Paul Jr. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10 am at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy. Cremation will be at Rosehill Crematory, Linden. Visiting is on Friday from 2 ~ 4 & 7 ~ 9 pm.

Kathleen (Kathy) E. Carlton AGE: 69 • Piscataway Kathleen (Kathy) E. Carlton, 69, of Piscataway, NJ, passed away on May 1, 2015 at Haven Hospice, Edison, NJ. Kathy was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 26, 1946. She is survived by her son Andrew S. (August), and daughters Jennifer A. and Amy L.; sister Ellen Lindson, brother Tim Patterson, and sisters-in-law Teresa Tomaro (Michael) and Estelle (Tootsie) King, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 9 nephews and was predeceased by her parents Albert and Estelle Patterson, former husband George L. Carlton and brother-in-law David M. King. Carr, Jerome "Jerry" - 82, Belford  
Jerome "Jerry" Carr AGE: 82 • Belford We are saddened to announce that Jerome A Carr died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Riverview Medical Center after a long illness. Jerry was born on 7/4/1932 in Newark, NJ where he attended Westside High School. Shortly thereafter, he met and married Annabelle Pettit, his wife of 60 years. He served in the US Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He relocated to Belford, NJ in 1957 where he worked for as a financial services representative for Prudential Insurance for 35 years before retiring in 1992. He was an original Charter Member/Chaplain for the Middletown Elks BOE where he was fondly remembered as 009 - his membership number. Jerry was also a long time member of the VFM located in Port Monmouth, NJ. An avid fisherman during retirement, he enjoyed participating in tournaments. Jerry had a generous spirit and will be remembered for his support of over fifteen charities including Sloan Kettering Research Center, Wounded Warrier, Disabled Veterans, ASPCA to name a few. Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years Annabelle A Carr; cherished sister, Marie Evens, Mount Holly; sister- in- law, Allison Gramens, East Hanover; 4 children, sons and daughter- in-law, Douglas Carr, and David Carr and fiancée, Winnifred Cordery; daughter and sons-in-law, Kimberly Adams and Michael, Dana Monahan and Jim; numerous loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At his request, a private memorial service will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ. Remember us as always loving you. Catanzarite, Maryann - 62, Cape Coral, Fla.  
Maryann Catanzarite AGE: 62 • Cape Coral, Fla. Maryann Catanzarite, 62, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away suddenly on March 20, 2015 from a stroke. She was born in Jersey City on March 1, 1953 and lived in Long Branch before moving to Cape Coral. Maryann received a teaching degree from Monmouth College in West Long Branch and taught elementary school. Her hobbies included photography, cooking and hand crafts. Maryann had a lifelong love for all animals and devoted much of her life to the adoption and care of dogs and cats. She is survived by her first cousins, Marie Scarpa and Tony Scarpa, as well as siblings and half siblings on her father's side of the family. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Woodbine Cemetery, 1173 Eatontown Blvd. in Oceanport. Gerard Ciavatta AGE: 48 • Neptune City Gerard Ciavatta, 48, of Neptune City, died Monday, May 4, 2015, at home. Gerard was a loyal father, husband and brother who never hesitated to help anyone in need. He was gentle, kind and patient and touched many lives. He was one of the greatest human beings that ever walked the planet. He was a dedicated produce employee for A&P Markets for twenty-six years and was a fifteen year member of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #346 in Neptune Township. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Therese; his daughter, Ashley and his brothers, Nicholas and Christopher. Corallo, Victor - 90, Point Pleasant  
Victor Corallo Victor Corallo, age 90, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Alcoeur Gardens in Brick. Mr. Corallo was born in Newark, raised and started his own family in Union, then lived in Summit for 28 years before retiring to Little Silver. He is a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran. Victor began employment with State Farm Insurance as an agent in 1955, becoming an Agency Manager in 1961 until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Corallo enjoyed coaching young athletes for the Union Township Little League. Upon his move to Summit, he founded the Summit Junior Baseball League in 1971. He took pride in knowing that this league has benefited thousands of Summit children over the past 44 years and continues to flourish to this day. Victor was a season ticket holder for the New York Giants and an avid golf fan. He and his family and friends enjoyed many wonderful years at his vacation homes in Bay Head and Ocean Ridge, Florida. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty years, Sandra A. (Wolfson) Corallo in 2006. He is survived by his loving daughter, Carol Allen and her husband, Michael of Point Pleasant, his adored grandson, Killian McBride. and daughter, Stacey. At the request of the family, all services have been private. Colonial Funeral Home in Brick is in charge of arrangements. Walter J. Currie Jr. AGE: 73 • Brick Walter J. Currie Jr., 73, of Brick, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Walter spent many years as a trucking dispatcher before retiring from Bilkay's Jersey Coast Freight Lines, Neptune. Born in East Rutherford, he resided in Toms River before moving to Brick 10 years ago. Walter served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1967. He was a past Pop Warner Coach for St. Joe's Angels and Toms River Little Indians. He also coached Toms River East Little League and was a past board member. He was an outstanding father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be forever missed. Walter was predeceased by his granddaughter, Ashlyn. Walter is survived by 3 sons, Walter E. Currie of Toms River; twins Brian R. Currie and his wife MaryBeth of Toms River; Edward D. Currie and his wife Pamela of Huntingtown, MD.; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Connor, Megan, Landon, Erich, Sean, Tanner; his former wife, Maie Currie of Toms River and 9 nieces & nephews and their families. Czarniewski, Robert (Bob)  
Robert (Bob) Czarniewski Robert (Bob) Czarniewski, known by many as Mr. C or CZ, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from a fatal heart attack. Robert, born in Kearny on March 6, 1949 was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Marie (nee Donovan) Czarniewski of Madison, and survived by his brother, Dan Czarniewski (wife Kathy) of Pine Beach. Robert dedicated his life to his students at Island Heights Grade School as the Physical Education instructor since 1973. Also since 1973, he has been involved with his favorite sport, soccer, which he has coached all levels from youth leagues to varsity girls and boys soccer at Toms River High Schools East and South. In 1985, as head coach, Robert lead TR High School East Raiders' boys soccer team to the NJSIAA Group IV State Championship title. That team along with CZ, was inducted to the Toms River Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. Robert's other achievements include induction to Quincy College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993; recipient of the 2000 Jim Runke Award for his dedication and service to the WOBM Christmas Classic basketball tournament, which he worked since its inception in 1984; and induction to Ocean County College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. His proudest achievement was the 2013 dedication of The Robert "CZ" Czarniewski Gymnasium, in appreciation for his 40 years of loyal, outstanding, and dedicated service to the students of Island Heights Grade School. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8 at the funeral home, with internment immediately following at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
