Deacon Arthur V. Thigpen, Sr. AGE: 71 • Rose Hill Deacon Arthur V. Thigpen, Sr. (71) Rose Hill, MS Son of the late Julia Jordan Survived by: (1) son; Arthur V. Thigpen, Jr. (2) daughters; Sherry Hicks and Jasaiyah Thigpen. Deceased: Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Worked for Johnson & Johnson as a machinist for 46 years, where he later retired. He attended Friendship Christian Church in New Brunswick, N.J., where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, under the leadership of the late Pastor G. Sanders. After retiring he then moved to Rose Hill, MS, where he continued his service as Chairman of the Deacon Board at East Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Spencer Richardson, IV. He was a member of the Rose Hill Volunteer Fire Dept., Tioch Association and a proud member of the Cattlemen Association, as well as many other Associations and Organizations. Thompson, Christine Rose - 75, Woodbridge  
Christine Rose Thompson AGE: 75 • Woodbridge Christine Rose Thompson 75, of Woodbridge, entered into eternal rest, August 19, 2016 at JFK Hartwyck at Edison Estates. She was born in Perth Amboy and lived most of her life in Woodbridge. Christine was a teacher at the Schull School in Perth Amboy for 24 years before retiring in 1987. She was a graduate of Woodbridge High School class of 1959 and Newark State College in 1963. Christine was predeceased by her parents Michael and Rose Scarangello. She is survived by her brother Frank Scarangello and his wife Georgana of Iselin and several cousins. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Holy Rosary R C Church. Toner, Peter J. - 56, Jackson, Nj  
Peter J. Toner AGE: 56 • Jackson, NJ Peter J. Toner 56 passed away suddenly on Wednesday August 17, 2016. He was born November 16, 1959 in Orange, NJ. Mr. Toner was employed by Public Service Electric and Gas in Metuchen, NJ for 36 years as a substation operator and dutifully served as shop steward of IBEW local 94 for more than 25 years. Mr. Toner was an avid fisherman and family man who especially enjoyed surf fishing trips with his family at Island Beach State Park and trout fishing the Big Flat Brook in Stokes State Forest. He was also an avid reader and is known for his sense of humor and generosity. He was a sports fan who cheered for the New York Giants, Mets and Rangers. He had a passion for nature, gardening and his pets. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Katherine Wright Toner of Jackson, Daughters Shannon Clapp and her husband Adam of Stafford and Sarah Toner of Freehold. Mother Evelyn Toner of Whiting, NJ. Grandchildren Leigha, Austin and Ashley Clapp of Stafford. Brothers Mark Toner of Norwalk, Ct. Christopher and his wife Amy Toner of Whiting, NJ Uncle to Jill, Ryan, Patrick Toner and Kaitlyn Hennelly. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Saturday August 20, 2016 from 2-5pm with a 4:30pm Service at The Timothy E. Trapp, Carol Mary - 68, Metuchen  
Carol Mary Trapp AGE: 68 • Metuchen Carol Mary (nee Davis) Trapp, 68, of Metuchen, died on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Mary Ann Hale Pavilion of Haven Hospice in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Carol was born in Brooklyn to the late George and Lillian Davis. She had resided in Clifton, Wayne, Highland Park, Edison, Woodbridge, NJ and Alexandria VA, before moving to Metuchen in 1986. She was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University (B.A. English) and Kean University (M.A. Reading). Carol was a former Adjunct Professor at Middlesex County College. Previously, she had taught at St. John Vianney School in Colonia, A. Chester Redshaw School in New Brunswick and Ringwood NJ public schools. Previously she was employed by the Middlesex County Department of Weights and Measures and the Middlesex County Department of Social Services. She was a longtime member of Oak Tree Presbyterian Church, where she had been a Deacon, Assistant Treasurer and a member of the Vestry. She led the Church's effort to refurbish the Berringer house in Metuchen, which gained citation from USA Today for it's Make a Difference Day. Carol was a former trustee of the Metuchen Education Foundation and a volunteer for many years with Literacy Volunteers. Surviving are her husband of 45 years George J. Trapp; two children Alison Marie Mertz (Benjamin) of El Cerrito, CA and Kaitlin Elizabeth Trapp of Metuchen; three grandchildren Isaiah and Samuel Mertz; and Ava Trapp; as well as her brother, George Davis (Virginia) of Vernon. Services will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 9:45 AM from the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen, followed by a 10:30 AM Service at Oak Tree Presbyterian Church. Trione, Joan M. - 84, Lakewood  
Joan M. Trione, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at her home. She was born and raised in Manasquan, NJ and is the daughter of the late Leander and Mary Ruf Martin. After more than 30 years, Joan retired as an admired school bus driver in Brick Township. She was affectionately known as ""Mrs. T"". She also spent many years as a badge checker at Jenkinson's, where she enjoyed meeting all the beach goers. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Peter Trione, her big brother, Roy Martin, and her precious great-granddaughter, Samantha ""Sammy"" Ventresca. She is survived by her adoring daughters; Deborah Gormley and her husband Dennis, Linda Trione, Teresa Trione, and Petrice Nicoles and her fiancé Anthony Pascucci, her sister Mary Jane Pearce and her husband Clyde, and her brother Bill; ten loving grandchildren, Jennifer, Tonya, Melissa, Chrystal, Jason, Evan, Ashley, Kody, Zack, and Emma; and six amazing great-grandchildren, Matilda, Sadie, Liam, Harry, James, and William. Joan lived a rich and full life with her family and friends who she loved deeply. She enjoyed staying up late playing Phase 10 with her kids and grandkids. Joan had fond memories of going to the beach with her sister and her husband. She also loved taking trips to Atlantic City, especially her yearly birthday celebration with her daughters. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 from 6-7:30 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, NJ, 08724. Turner, Ruth - 98, Plainfield  
Ruth Turner AGE: 98 • Plainfield Ruth Turner, born Ruth Fell May 19, 1918 to Hymie and Anna Fell of Plainfield, New Jersey, died in her sleep at the age of 98, on August 10, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. Ruth is survived by her son Bruce, daughter Jackie, grandchildren Justin, Jenna, Rachael and great grandchildren Addison, Emani and Noelani. Ruth's daughter Debi, mother of Rachael, passed away 12 years ago in Highland Park, N.J. Ruth lived in Plainfield most of her life and moved to Bridgewater Township prior to moving to Los Angeles to join her children 12 years ago. Ruthie as she was known to family and friends had a great sense of humor and was an avid reader; she loved animals and especially loved caring for others. She worked for years at Tepper's Department Store in Plainfield and later at Hoechst Pharmaceuticals in Bridgewater Township. Ruthie volunteered at the local Hadassah center, Deborah Heart & Lung Foundation and the community food bank. Ruth was one of those special people who will be missed by all who knew her.
