Ricci, Anthony Santo - 80, Cliffwood
Anthony Santo Ricci AGE: 80 • Cliffwood Anthony Santo Ricci, 80, of Cliffwood passed away on Tuesday December 16, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Cliffwood, moving to Middletown in the late 60's for a few years then returning to his hometown of Cliffwood where he would remain the rest of his life. His early years were spent on the back streets of Cliffwood with the Cliffwood Angels, forming friendships for life. Anthony would meet his wife Brenda of 60 years in Keyport beginning his lifetime of adventures that would take him to owning the Texaco gas station in Middletown, to starting his 60+ years company Altone Masonry, retiring just this past year, while also owning The Pavilion on Glen Lake Upstate New York. He lived for his six children whom he loved unconditionally treating his sons-in-law as they were his own. A big part of Anthony's life was enjoyed spending time with his hunting buddies from the Brookside Gun Club, in later years though most of his "hunting" was spent in his truck sleeping. He enjoyed horse racing at Monmouth Park but especially at Saratoga Race Track which would bring him to buy his summer camp on the Hudson River in 1976, giving us all memories and stories to enjoy for a lifetime. Anthony also had many great stories to tell of his years attending Super Bowl Games with his buddies the Vena's, he enjoyed his days of playing poker, but let's put it this way I would never sit at his table. He enjoyed the simple things in life like making his own wine, smoking a good cigar and being with his entire family on Sundays watching football, he considered himself the King of grocery shopping, a coupon expert, yes he would actually drive back to Best Market because he was overcharged 10¢, but he loved it. One of his passions was selling Easter Flowers in Cliffwood with his children and Grandchildren for over 40 years; everyone knew where to go for Easter Flowers and a glass of homemade wine. He was truly the matriarch of the family, if you needed anything you would go see Dad, Tony, Pop, Skip, Sonny, Chief, just a few of his nicknames and he would be there. He was the Godfather to Debbie Bunger, Christopher Perez, Woody Pizzi and Wayne Pittius. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years in October, his parents Frank and Domenica Ricci, son Frank B. Ricci, son-in-law Gerry Poyssick, sisters Gloria and her husband John Bunger, Tootsie Chomic and her husband Walter, Jennie Cherney, and his brother Frank Ricci. He leaves behind his five daughters and 3 sons-in-law, Brenda Poyssick, Domenica Ricci, Marcella and Jerry Coughlin, Clorinda and Doug Hay, Sunny and Dee Rudko, 9 Grandchildren, Douglas Frank and his wife Jenna, Natalie and her husband Phil, Marcella, Anthony Ricci, Reggie, Johnnie, Santino, Deeko, and Domenica, 5 Great Grandchildren Nicolette, Douglas Thomas, Sonnie James, Nico and his newest Great Granddaughter Lana Jade born Thursday December 18th. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 21, 2014 from 3pm - 7pm at the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home 8am on Monday December 22, 2014 followed by a 9:15AM Mass at St. Catherine's Church in Holmdel. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. Donations are greatly appreciated and can go directly to the family for the continued care of his daughter Domenica.
