Volz, Harold T. - 89, Toms River  
Harold T. Volz AGE: 89 • Toms River Harold T. Volz, 89, of Toms River, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015. Harold is survived by his wife Joan, who he was married to for 67 years. He was a great father of Richard, Ellyn Barra (husband Gene), Geri Kollor (husband Thomas), Mark, and John (wife Donna). Beloved Pop pop to Josh, Shannon, Hunter, Ashley, Amanda, David, Mark, Luke, Megan, and Hailey and great-pop pop of Layla, Kenny, and Avery. He was honorably discharged from the Merchant Marines when he served for three years during WWII. He worked for Texaco Oil Co. for 41 years. He was a Chief Engineer on their tug boats. Retired at 59, he was a wonderful hard working family man who will be greatly missed by his family, his cat Willow, and all those he touched. Services will be private. Helen A. Van Wyck AGE: 98 1/2 • Forked River Helen A. Arnold Van Wyck, 98 ½, of Forked River, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Tallwoods Care Center in Bayville, after a brief illness. Born in Springwater, Oregon, her family moved to Montclair, NJ, when she was 5 years old where her father was a minister and her parents taught violin, viola and cello for 30 years. Helen graduated from Montclair High School in 1934 and her passion was teaching piano and being an art teacher at the Yard School of Art in Montclair, NJ for 18 years and also teaching art to the handicap at Kessler Institute in Orange, NJ for several years. Helen is predeceased by her parents, Rev. Charles F. Aue and Alice M. Aue, siblings, Henry S. Aue and Margaret Aue Van Wyck, spouses, Frank D. Arnold and Bill Van Wyck, and son-in-law, Gary G. Polyak. She will be remembered as the loving mother to her daughter, Winifred Polyak of Forked River, her son, Richard D. Arnold and spouse Linda M. Arnold of Liberty Corner, grandmother to four grandchildren, Lisa C. Smentkowski and husband James Smentkowski, Scott Arnold, Jason Arnold, Lynne Weber and husband Patrick Weber and three great-grandchildren, Frank Smentkowski and Cassidy and Brianna Weber. Manuel Valente AGE: 81 • Carteret Manuel Valente 81, of Carteret, died on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Bayshore Health Care Center in Holmdel. He was born in Monte Murtoza, Portugal and lived in Carteret for many years. Manuel retired from US Metal Refining Company in Carteret as a Machine Operator. He is a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church in Carteret. Manuel is survived by his wife, Maria Valente; his son, Frank Valente and his grandchildren, Jared and Ryan. The Funeral will be on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 9 AM at Synowiecki Funeral Home, 56 Carteret Avenue in Carteret. Mass will be at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph RC Church in Carteret, followed by Interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. The visiting hours will be on Thursday, from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Valerio, Anne B. - 92, Red Bank  
Anne B. Valerio AGE: 92 • Red Bank Anne B. Valerio, 92, of Red Bank, died peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Anne was born in the Bronx to James and Ellen (Drummie) Bree. In 1966 Anne and her husband Victor fulfilled their wishes to open their own business and became proprietors of Victor's Coffee Shop in Sea Bright, which they ran for 18 years, where Anne's specialty was her baking, especially her pies. Anne later worked for her son, Raymond, the proprietor of Tower Hill Antiques in Red Bank. She was a longtime communicant of St. James RC Church. Anne was predeceased by her parents, her sister Rita, her brothers Joseph, James, her beloved son Raymond in 2010 and her husband of 65 years, Victor in 2012. She is survived by her four sons, Donald of Red Bank, James and his wife Marianne, of Toms River, Vincent and his wife Susan, of Little Silver, and Daniel and his wife Carolyn of Eatontown. She had 11 grandchildren: James, Kevin and his wife Chrissy, Thomas and his wife Julia, Mary Kate Facchini and her husband Matthew, Matthew, Joshua, Sarah, Ann Margaret, Jeffrey, Daniel and Michael and 9 great grandchildren, Justin, Louis, Maia, Julianna, Thomas, Shane, Michael, Madelynn, and Noa Grace, and her brother Raymond Bree and his wife Patricia, of Delaware. Anne was a devoted wife and mother to her five sons' and their families. She taught her children and their children what it meant to love, to work hard, to have compassion on those you meet in life, and most importantly a love for God. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25th from 4-8pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, N J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26th 10:30am at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. Vansaghi, Christopher Ronald - 56, Howell  
Christopher Ronald Vansaghi AGE: 56 • Howell Christopher Ronald Vansaghi, 56, of Howell, New Jersey, a loving husband and father passed away at home after battling pancreatic cancer on February 21, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Chris was born on September 10, 1958 in San Diego, California and was a devoted worker for Lockheed Martin for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially, camping in the Catskills, N.Y. Chris is survived by wife Karen (Kelljcheain) Vansaghi, children Christopher, Patrick and Kellie Vansaghi, parents Ronald Ernest Vansaghi and Kathleen Ann (Turner) Vansaghi, brothers Mark, Brad, and Ronald Vansaghi. Visitation will be held on Thursday February 26, 2015 from 3 to 7 pm at Bongarzone Funeral Home, 2400 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls. Rudolph D. Veres AGE: 58 • Formerly of Hopelawn Rudolph D. Veres, 58, formerly of Hopelawn, passed suddenly on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived most of his life in Hopelawn. He worked for many years in Perth Amboy, including Zalick's Machine Shop and A & D Industrial Marine Repair. He was predeceased by his father, Rudolph J. Veres. He leaves behind, his son, Rudolph Veres of North Naples, FL. his mother, Ardith (Whiteley) Veres of Freehold, five sisters, Linda Graeve and her husband Bob, of Odessa, FL, Diane Ingenito and her husband Neil, of Interlaken, JoAnn Veres and her partner, Harry Aponte of Kendall Park, Marie Beiter and her husband Kevin of Barnegat and Judy Smith of Fords, also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his dear friend, Annette Yuhasz of Parlin. Eddie A. Vives AGE: 57 • Long Branch Eddie A. Vives, 57, of Long Branch, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. Born in Gurabo, PR, he has lived in Long Branch most of his life. He worked for his "Adoptive Mom", Gloria Lopez at Joline Tire, Long Branch. Surviving are his mother, Ernestina Concepcion of FL, Gloria Lopez, who was like an "Adoptive Mother"; son, Eddie Vives; brothers, Juan Vives, Angel Vives and Miguel Reyes; sisters, Carmen Vives and Gloribelle Lopez Vives. She is survived by her brothers, Reverend Michael Vona and John Vona of NJ, and Joseph Vona of FL; a sister, Frances Kosmoski of NJ and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews and Sisters of Mercy in the Mid-Atlantic Community. Vreeland, Donald R. - 83, Holmdel  
Donald R. Vreeland AGE: 83 • Holmdel Donald R. Vreeland, 83, of Holmdel, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at his home. Donald was born on March 15, 1931 in West Orange, and was raised in Leonardo. He lived in Newark, and Keyport, before ultimately settling in Holmdel in 1967. Before retiring, he worked as a fire fighter for Newark Fire Department, Engine #29, where he held the title of Captain. Donald was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines, having served during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his parents, Caroll and Mabel (Darnstead) Vreeland; his brother, Kenneth Vreeland, along with his beloved wife, Anita (Howlett) Vreeland. Donald is survived by his loving children, Donald Vreeland Jr. and his wife Barbara of Sicklerville, and Terri Schanck of Holmdel; his dear sister-in-law, Peggy Vreeland; his cherished grandchildren, Eric Vreeland, Andrew Vreeland, Lucas Schanck, and Stephanie Vreeland, along with 5 special nieces, many extended family members, and friends. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Rt. 35 N., Hazlet. In respect of Donald's wishes, he will be privately cremated. Donald's cremains will be interred with his wife Anita at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
