Frances R. Faderwick AGE: 99 • Edison Frances R. Faderwick (nee: Bernaskas), 99, passed away on July 27, 2016 at her home. She was born in Inkerman, PA and had resided in Edison since 1961. Frances worked as an aide in the Dietary Office at Perth Amboy General Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1978. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords and a member of the Clara Barton Seniors. Frances was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2007 and by 7 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Frances "Gerri "Huber, of Neptune, Debra Faderwick of Edison, her grandchildren, Donna McBian, Frank Huber III, Lori Ingenito and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 10:15 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords with entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Gilfillen, Kirk Anthony - 69, Lakewood  
Kirk Anthony Gilfillen AGE: 69 • Lakewood Kirk Anthony Gilfillen, "The Captain," age 69, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Meridian Subacute Rehabilitation facility in Wall, NJ. He was born on August 26, 1946 in Peoria, IL, and he was the son of the late Mary (Kohut) and Kirk Gilfillen. After being raised in the University Heights section of the Bronx, NY, he was a 30 year resident of Howell, NJ, before moving to Lakewood over 10 years ago. Kirk was a graduate of Fordham Prep and Fordham University. Kirk was a former teacher for the 3rd grade students in the Bronx for the New York City Public School System. He was a retired investigator for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, retiring after 25 years of service. Kirk was passionate about collecting model trains, railroad history, and traveling first class on Amtrak trains. He also loved to watch Jeopardy and Judge Judy. Kirk is remembered fondly for enjoying good food and cocktails at high end restaurants. He was the life of the party and always ready to have a good time. Kirk is survived by his three children and their spouses, Kirk Anthony, Jr. and his wife Mary, Kimberly Schaeffer and her husband Sean, and Christine Gilfillen and her fiance Jason; a granddaughter, Christine Barton and her fiance Brian; and a dear caregiver and companion, Pauline Russo. In addition to his parents, Kirk was predeceased by his aunts, Betty and Anne; and his uncle, Tony. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300, Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. His funeral service will be Monday 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Havens, Alfred B. - 77, Brick  
Alfred B. Havens AGE: 77 • Brick Alfred B. Havens, 77, of Brick, passed away, Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Born in Point Pleasant, to the late Elmer and Gertrude May Green Havens, he was a lifelong area resident. Al was retired from Toms River Chemical Corporation, where he worked as a chemical operator. He was a life member and Ex-Chief of the Herbertsville Fire Company, Station 24; member of the New Jersey State Firemen's Association; and was an avid baseball card collector. Surviving are his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy (Rehak) Havens; and two sons, Edward Havens of Brick and Jeffrey Havens and his wife Sandra of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his twin brother, Vernon Havens; and six grandchildren, Keith, Eric, Cameron, Jeffrey, Jr., Kurt, and Lindsey. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m., Sunday, July 31 at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Gwendolyn "Theresa" Kolias AGE: 71 • Edison Gwendolyn "Theresa" Kolias, 71, of Edison, NJ, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 16th, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. She was a successful business owner with her beloved husband James for over 35 years. She loved going out on the boat with her husband and was an avid traveler. Gwendolyn was a devoted Catholic and member with her husband James of the St. Matthew's Church, Edison, NJ. Beloved wife of James Castiglione and loving mother to Melanie Dougherty and Allen (Carol) Kolias, dear grandfather of Lee Kolis, Cassandra Dougherty and Dalton Dougherty. Lucy M. "Chickie" Layton AGE: 82 • Eatontown Lucy "Chickie" Layton, 82 of Eatontown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Neptune, Lucy was a graduate of Neptune High School. She was The Transportation Officer at Ft. Monmouth for 32 years before retiring. Lucy was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at Gleneagles and Old Orchard courses. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who loved her. Lucy was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Alexander James Mitchell; her parents: Joseph and Yolanda Fatebene; her first husband, James F. Marra and her second husband of 30 years, Horace Layton. She is survived by her daughter Maria Marra Mitchell; her stepsons: Gary and Dwight Layton and stepdaughter, Ava Layton; her two sisters: Joanne Semmel and Peggy Ann Cook. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 31 from 1 pm - 3 pm in Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Avenue, Asbury Park. Macola, Joyce Ann - Northborough  
Joyce Ann Macola AGE: 72 • Joyce Ann Macola, 72, of Whitney Place passed away unexpectedly at home on July 25, 2016. She leaves behind seven nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister and two brothers. Born in Pottsville, PA, Miss Macola lived in So. Amboy, NJ for 50 years before moving to Northborough four years ago. Joyce Ann graduated from Carteret High School in NJ, class of 1961. She loved Yahtzee, Scrabble, puzzles, movies, plays and, most of all, Christmas. Joyce Ann was proud of being the first female forklift operator for a Proctor & Gamble subsidiary. A private graveside service will be held in St. John's Orthodox Cemetery in Perth Amboy, NJ. Malt, Alice Jane - 82, Middlesex  
Alice Jane Malt AGE: 82 • Middlesex Alice Jane Malt, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. She was born in the Homestake Hospital, Lead, South Dakota to the late Alexander McMillan and Mary Sylvina Calhoon. Alice was the last baby born there. She graduated from Lead High School, class of 1951 and married Joseph Richard Malt of Hazelton, PA on September 22, 1952; they settled in Middlesex, NJ in 1960. Alice was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister as well as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Martha's Table. She took great comfort in her faith and was devoted to the word of God. The greatest joys of her life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She instilled in them a great sense of family traditions and loved nothing more than then entire family gathering for Christmas Eve. She made great memories with her granddaughters cooking the traditional Easter pie - everyone with an apron and babushka! She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Mary Buck Greiner (2014), infant daughter, Grace (1957), parents, "Mac" and "Vina" Calhoon and siblings: William McConnell (infant), Wallace Mac Calhoon (Infant), Malcolm Dean Calhoon, Charles Calhoon, Mildred Joann Ozanne, Winifred Rachetts, Vida Krause, Mary Sigmund and Norma Harris. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Joseph and their children: Jane Ream (Brian), Richard Malt (Sherie), Barbara Benwell (Brian), Nancy Milewska (Bob) and Kathleen Boczon. She took great pride in her 15 grandchildren: Kenneth Buck (Nancy), Heather Mannion (Patrick), Joe Reilly (Shannon), Jamie Blume (Patrick), Richard Malt, Jr. (Tracey), Benjamin Benwell (Amanda), Susie Pypniowski (Justin), Emily Milewska, Jeremy Serpe (Melissa), Brian Ream, Jeffrey Malt, Bobby Milewska, Alyssa Ream, Charles Boczon and Joey Milewska. Alice adored her great-grandchildren: Daniel, Kaitlyn, William, Elliott, Andrew, Mason, Ava, Cadence, Noah, and Madison. She is also survived by her 100 year old sister, Verle Bauernfiend, Lead, SD. Family and friends are invited to join together for visitation on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 3-7PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 9:00 AM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Middlesex, NJ. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. McLaughlin, E. Bernice Kernan - 88, Spring Lake  
E. Bernice Kernan McLaughlin AGE: 88 • Spring Lake Elizabeth Bernice Kernan McLaughlin, 88, of Spring Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Robert T. McLaughlin. Born in South Orange on August 11, 1927, Bernice was the daughter of Bartholomew F. and Elizabeth Morris Kernan. A graduate of Our Lady of Sorrows Grammar School and Columbia High School, both in South Orange, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree and New Jersey Teaching Certificate from Newark State Teachers College, now known as Kean University. Bernice taught elementary school in the West Orange and Harding Township School Systems for many years before relocating to California where her three children were born. Bernice and her family returned to New Jersey and settled in Basking Ridge where she resumed teaching in the Bernards Township School System, including at Oak Street School, Liberty Corner School, and Cedar Hill Elementary. After many years, Bernice relocated, once again, to Worthington, Ohio, where she lived for several years until her husband's death. She returned to New Jersey and lived for several years at Four Seasons in Manasquan; she then moved to The Essex and Sussex in Spring Lake where she enjoyed her home, the boardwalk and her friends there until her death. Bernice was a member, for many years, of the American Association of University Women and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Bernice is survived by her by sons, Paul G. McLaughlin of Pennsylvania, and Brian K. McLaughlin of Belmar, NJ, and her daughter, Lisa McLaughlin of Red Bank, NJ, as well as her grandchildren, Berend and Sara McLaughlin. She also leaves her brother,Richard W. Kernan and wife, Margaret Murray, of Avon-by-the-Sea, and sister, Carol Flynn and husband, Richard, of Orange, CT. She also leaves brother-in-law John J. McLaughlin and wife MaryJean of Short Hills, NJ and sister-in-law Ann Palm and husband William of Massachusetts. In addition to her husband, Bernice was predeceased by her brother, Bart, Jr. and sisters, Doris and Mary Kernan. She also leaves 15 nieces and nephews, more than thirty great-nieces and nephews, and many dear and devoted friends. Bernice's family would like to express special thanks to the dedicated nurses of Jersey Shore University Medical Center CCU, whose kindness and care for Bernice was a comfort, both to her and her family. Visitation will be at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, on Sunday from 2-5pm. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, on Monday at 10:30am. A Private Committal will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels of Monmouth County or The Michael J.
