Leonard DeYoung AGE: 88 • Forked River Leonard DeYoung, 88, of the Forked River section of Lacey Township, died Thursday at Tallwoods Care Center, Bayville. Mr. DeYoung was the President and Owner of Delta Molds Inc., Clifton for 45 years. Prior to that, he was the owner of the Allendale Picture Press, Allendale, NJ. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II where he was a Normandy Beach and Omaha D Day survivor. He was a communicant of Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Council 1736 in Ridgewood, NJ. During his lifetime, Lenny built many homes for friends and family. He was an avid golfer and an instrument rated licensed commercial pilot. Born in Tallulah, LA, he resided in Fair Lawn and Waldwick, NJ before moving to Forked River 25 years ago. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Maureen; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim DeYoung, Oakland, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen DeYoung-Wichelns and David Wichelns, Toms River; a sister, Josephine Soboloff, New Orleans, LA; and two beloved grandchildren, Keith and Hunter. Friends may call from 3-7 pm Tuesday at Layton's Home For Funerals, (609) 971-6800, 250 W. Lacey Road, Forked River, Lacey. Relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, hence to St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Committal Services will be private. Robert P. Chambliss AGE: 83 • Toms River Robert P. Chambliss, 83, of Toms River, NJ and Holiday, FL died on Monday, June 30, 2014. Bob was an auto mechanic for George Hughes Chevrolet in Freehold, NJ, retiring in 1997. He loved anything with a motor. If it had an engine, he could diagnose the problem and fix it. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman, boater, kayaker, and dog-lover. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor, his big heart, his perseverance, and his willingness to help his friends. If it needed doing, Bob would do it. He was predeceased by his parents Cortez and Mary Chambliss. Surviving are his wife Roberta and five children; Debra von Koch and her husband, Alexander, of PA, Steven Chambliss and his wife, Melissa, of DE, Kathy Chambliss of MD, Cheryl Chambliss and Alan Goodnoe of NJ, and Beth Lanzisera and her husband, Dominick, of NJ. Also surviving are a brother, Joseph Chambliss, of NJ, a sister, Joan Torella, of FL, six grandsons, five great granddaughters, eleven nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Autumn. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 for the memorial gathering from 11am-1pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. Alexander W. Oleck AGE: 87 • Wall Alexander W. Oleck 87, of Wall, NJ died Thursday, July 03, 2014 at Care One at Wall. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Alexander lived there before moving to Wall in 1968. He owned and operated Oleck Brothers Painting in Jersey City and was a Hudson County Sheriff's Officer before going to work for the NJ Turnpike Authority, New Brunswick, NJ until his retirement. Alexander served in the US Army during World War II. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Jersey City, NJ and VFW Post 3776, Secaucus, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. Rose Church, Belmar, NJ. Al enjoyed horse racing at Monmouth Park and Freehold Raceway, and spending time with his dog Rocky. He was predeceased by his son William Jon Oleck in 1960, his brother William Oleck, and his longtime companion Michelle. Surviving are his daughters: Larayne Hauser of Ocean, NJ, Pamela Flammia and husband Paul of Ocean, NJ, a brother James Oleck of Edison, NJ, 5 grandchildren: Gary Hauser and wife Katja, Paul Flammia and wife Kelly, Kimberly Winters and husband Alan, Matthew Flammia and wife Nicole and Courtney Flammia. He also leaves 11 great grandchildren. Visiting will be Sunday, from 3-7 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 AM at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial will follow at St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall. Elizabeth F. "Betty" O'Shaughnessy AGE: 82 • Brielle Elizabeth Frances "Betty" O'Shaughnessy, 82, of Brielle, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Brooklyn, NY to William Francis and Josephine Wilson Moran. She attended Manual High School and graduated from Lambs Business School. Betty was a faithful employee of Chubb Insurance for many years before marrying her beloved husband, Michael "Buddy" O'Shaughnessy. Betty had an amazing gift of generosity that was evident in all of the volunteer work she performed, including working with children at a Head Start program in Howell, manning soup kitchens in Newark, and transporting cancer patients to appointments in NYC. Betty enjoyed boating, playing tennis, and was an avid sports fan. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida, California, and Las Vegas. Betty was devoted to her family and was especially dedicated to her grandchildren in their numerous endeavors. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Buddy O'Shaughnessy, and her grandson Declan Cuozzo. She is survived by her sister, Mary Kay Greene of Breezy Point, NY; her son Michael and his wife Kara O'Shaughnessy of Brielle; daughter, Joanne O'Shaughnessy and her husband Matt Lewis of Brick; daughter, Liz Cuozzo and her husband Dr. Gregory Cuozzo of Brielle; and grandchildren, Luke, Ava and Max O'Shaughnessy, Liam and Finn Cuozzo, and Liam Lewis, as well as many nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Apple. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall Township. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7 at St. Catharine's Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Betty's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
