Gary L. Olsen AGE: 54 • Jackson Gary L. Olsen, 54, of Jackson Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at home. Gary was born in Englewood, raised in Howell, and has resided in Jackson for the past 16 years. He was a 1979 graduate of Freehold Township High School. Gary received his bachelor's degree from Upsala College. He was a career agent for Metropolitan Life for over 30 years. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Dibblee) Olsen; two children, Sean and Rachel; three brothers and their spouses, Wayne and Barbara, Roy and Darlene, Chris and Jill; five nieces, Corinne, Jillian, Brooke, Gianna and Alexa; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken and Jini Dibblee; and his nephew Keith. Friends and family are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, April 30th from 2- 6 PM with his funeral service at 5:30 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E Main St, Freehold. Opanowicz, Arthur "Opie" - 88, East Brunswick  
Arthur "Opie" Opanowicz AGE: 88 • East Brunswick Arthur "Opie" Opanowicz died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. He was 88. Born in Newark, he resided in Jensen Beach, FL, and East Brunswick, NJ. Arthur received his Mechanical Engineering degree from NJIT (Newark College of Engineering) in 1963. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he worked as an engineer at Western Electric/Lucent in Kearny and Springfield, NJ, for over 40 years. A US Army veteran, he was deployed to Japan as a medic during the Occupation. Mr. Opanowicz was a faithful communicant of St. Mary's RC Church, South River. He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Council #8048, Knights of Columbus, Jensen Beach, FL and the Memorial Post #133, VFW, East Brunswick. He was an avid golfer and ran the Jensen Beach Club Golf League. He also enjoyed bicycling, shuffleboard and spending time with his beloved family. ?Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann (Villane) Opanowicz, in 2005; a son, Arthur, Jr. in 1983; 2 brothers, Sigmund and Harry Opanowicz; and 2 sisters, Stephanie Baldasare and Irene Opanowicz. Surviving are his 3 daughters, Marie Pinzone and her husband, Christopher, of Merrimac, MA, Linda Fitzgerald and her husband, Ralph, of Freehold, and Laura Opanowicz of East Brunswick; and his 6 grandchildren, Robin, Kayla, Jordan, Kimberly, Michele and Joseph; and 2 great grandchildren, Anabelle and Roman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 2nd, 9:00 AM at St. Mary's RC Church, South River. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Celia Mercadante Purrazzella Celia Mercadante Purrazzella, 90, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her home in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. She was born on October 12, 1925 in The Bronx and graduated from St. Ann's Academy in Brooklyn. She was employed by the Mercantile Stores as a Senior Buyer until her retirement in 1987. Celia was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Antoniette Piro, her first husband, Enrico Mercadante, her second husband, Jack Purrazzella, her brother, Frank Piro, her sister Adeline Mancini and her nephew, Gregory Mancini. Surviving are her son, Joseph E. Mercadante and Janet Forino, Long Branch, her niece and nephew, Felice and Gary Homer, Ocean, her nephew and niece, Charles and Barbara Mancini, Dix Hills, NY, her sister-in-law, Yolanda Piro, Fair Lawn, NJ, her niece, Charlene Piro, and grandchildren, Michael & Denise Mercadante, Nicholas Soden, Elizabeth and Christine Forino and a great grand-daughter, Victoria Mercadante. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at The Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue (corner of Third Avenue), Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Prospect Street, Long Branch. Ernest M. Reed AGE: 60 • Asbury Park Ernest M. Reed, age 60, passed away April 20, 2016 at home. He was born in Long Branch, NJ, lived in Trenton for many years until recently moving to Asbury Park, NJ. He was a graduate of Long Branch High School and Brookdale Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in Communication. Ernest was a former employee of Burlington Coat Factory. He was raised in the Catholic Church. Son of the late Burton Sr. and Edith Reed, brother of the late Margaret Reed and Burton Reed Jr., and uncle of the late Edward "Ricky" Reed Sr. Ernest is survived by three daughters Tabitha Brown (Audie), Johnetta Everett, and Juanicia "Cotton" Everett, son Ernest Brown, nieces Deidra, Talaya, and Renee Anderson, Shamia and Ewonda Reed, nephews Gregory Reed (Talisha), David Reed, Edward "Ricky" Reed Jr., and Anthony Anderson, special cousin Deidre Thompson, special friend Vanessa White, a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be 10am Sat., April 30, 2016 at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Ave., Trenton.

Rudnick, Murray - 81, Lakewood  
Murray Rudnick AGE: 81 • Lakewood Murray Rudnick, 81, of Lakewood, NJ passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 surrounded by the loving family he created. Born in Brooklyn on July 14, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Rose Rudnick. Murray was the light and the heart of his family. He will be remembered for his youthful, joyful spirit, brilliant smile, glistening eyes, and kind heart. He was loved by all that met him. His family called him Mr. Information because of his uncanny knowledge in any subject matter. He had two left feet but loved to dance. He loved the water and spending lazy days on his daughter and son-in-law's boat. He was a history buff, an inventor, a dreamer, a designer and architect, conceptualizing and building rooms in his and his family's home; including engineering two photography studios for his daughter, Jeri Houseworth, a professional photographer who he also managed business accounts and the books for. He was a veteran who served in the US Army followed by successful careers as an Engineer at Western Electric in Kearny which then became AT&T. Always an inventor, he worked on the development of the first Telstar. He was very active in his synagogue in Union, NJ where he served as President and Treasurer of the Men's Club for many years as well as his current synagogue at Temple Beth Or in Brick, NJ. He had many, many friends across the globe who he camped, traveled, bowled and fished with who will miss him terribly as will his adoring family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis of Lakewood, NJ as well as his 4 daughters, Jeri Houseworth-Livingstone and husband, Robert Livingstone of Tinton Falls, NJ; Andrea and Gabe Tomae of Belmar, NJ; Holly and Joel Kurtzberg of New York, NY; and Stacey Valenti of Ocean, NJ; and his 8 grandchildren, Alexander, Ryan, Chelsea, Emily, Julia, Faith, Jamie, and Gabriel; as well as many extended family members who loved him dearly. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Temple Beth Or, Brick, NJ followed immediately by burial at B'nai Israel Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. Shiva will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 through Thursday, May 5, 2016 at his daughter's home in Tinton Falls, NJ. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood, NJ.

Born in Italy, she lived in Jersey City, NJ before moving to Seaside Heights in 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, Giovanni Santoro, in 2003. Carmela is survived by her seven children Anthony Santoro of FL, Angelo Santoro of Marmora, NJ, Maria Santoro of Italy, Osvaldo Santoro of Pelican Island, Berkeley Twp., NJ, Arturo Santoro of Italy, Romeo Santoro of Seaside Heights and Adelaide Febus of Seaside Heights, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Bridget M. Scherb AGE: 71 • Forked River Bridget M. Scherb, 71, of Forked River passed away at home on April 25, 2016. Born in Jacksonville, FL, she was raised in West Orange before moving to Forked River 38 years ago. Bridget was the owner and operator of Insurance Alternatives Inc. of Forked River. She loved the beach, tending her garden and most of all, she treasured the time spent with her family. Joyce M. Stipple AGE: 83 • Whiting Joyce M. Stipple, 83, of Whiting passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Joyce was born, raised and had lived in Englishtown before moving to Whiting in 2015. She was a special deputy at the Monmouth County Clerk's Office for twenty-five years, retiring in 1996. Joyce was a member of the Englishtown Planning Board for 35 years and the Englishtown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, also for 35 years. She was a council member and past president for Englishtown from 1983-1991. Joyce was also a former member of the Englishtown Historical and Development Committees and the Sanford Memorial Methodist Church. Joyce is survived by her husband, William P. Stipple; a son, Robert W. Stipple and his girlfriend, Barbara Merten of Whiting; a granddaughter, Tania Kay Wilcox and her husband, Stephen of Englishtown; and two sisters, JoAnn Olenik of Eutawville, SC and Barbara Rushworth of South River. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Swartz, Kathryn - 85, Lakewood  
Kathryn Swartz AGE: 85 • Lakewood Kathryn R. Swartz passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Born Kathryn Regina Robinson in Scranton, PA on August 22, 1930, she graduated from St. Paul's High School at the age of 16 and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in science from Marywood College at the age of 19. She married her true love Harry L. Swartz on October 31, 1955. Kathryn taught at Toms River High School East from 1982-2004 and worked for the Toms River School District for 31 years. She enjoyed teaching and was well respected by her students, many of which maintained contact well after Kathryn's retirement in 2004. Kathryn was an excellent seamstress and had a passion for cooking and baking. She was also an active church member and served as an Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine's Church, in Seaside Park. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harry, a son Kirk, a son Karl, and a granddaughter Jessica. She is survived by her children, Harry Swartz Jr., Karen Torres and husband Javiel, Kurt Swartz and wife Cheryl, Eric Swartz and fiancé Michelle. She is also survived by her grandchildren Thomas Small, and wife Maryellen, Chase, and Chance Swartz and a great-grandson Symon De Frietas. Also surviving are her sisters in PA, Beverly and Faith. Kathryn was a devoted wife and mother who will be deeply missed by all who's lives she touched. A visitation will take place on Sunday, 2pm-5pm, and on Monday 10am-11am, at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main Street, Toms River. A religious service will be held Monday, 11am at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
