Madeline M. Pesce AGE: 86 • Hazlet Madeline M. (Milella) Pesce, 86, of Hazlet, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at home. Born in Brooklyn, she resided in College Point Queens before moving to Hazlet 54 years ago. She was a homemaker who volunteered her time at Bayshore Community Hospital and Holy Family Thrift Store. Madeline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nicola T. Pesce in 1979; her parents, Joseph and Anna (Langenfelder) Milella; and her sister, Frances Bush. She is survived by three sons, Samuel Pesce and wife Deona of GA; Joseph Pesce and wife Linda of Manchester; and Nicholas Pesce and wife Carolann of Hazlet; four cherished grandchildren, Anthony James, Nicole Marie, Faith Ann and Gina Maria; and one precious great-granddaughter, Madeline. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, with a 10 a.m. service at the funeral home. Quirk, James P. - 64, North Brunswick  
James P. Quirk AGE: 64 • North Brunswick James P. Quirk, 64, of North Brunswick, passed away Monday March 2, 2015 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Elizabeth, he was raised in New Brunswick and resided in North Brunswick for the past 30 years. Mr. Quirk was a Sergeant with the New Brunswick Police Department before retiring 14 years ago. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 294 in Milltown. He was predeceased by his parents James and Kay Quirk. Surviving are his loving wife of 24 years Jeanne (Guyette) Quirk of North Brunswick; his daughter and son in-law Samantha and Tim Tobias of Winfield Park; his son Jimmy Quirk of North Brunswick. He is also survived by his other children Jackie Halliday and Tony Rivera; his grandson Chace Tobias; his sister Kathy Hawryluk; as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 pm at Boylan Funeral Home 188 Easton Avenue in New Brunswick. A Mass will take place Friday at 1 pm at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. Friends and relatives will meet directly at church on Friday. Cremation will be private.

Reid, Judith - 76, Asbury Park  
Judith Reid AGE: 76 • Asbury Park Judith Reid, 76, passed away March 1, 2015 at her family's residence in Toms River. Mrs. Reid was born in New York City, moving to Jersey City, NJ and Hampton, NH for many years before settling in Asbury Park, NJ for the past 4 years. She retired from the North Hampton Library after many years of service. Judith was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hampton and the Past President of the Business and Professional Women's Group of Hampton, NH. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Reid is predeceased by her husband Robert. Judith is survived by her children, Robert Reid, Sandra Levinger, Catherine Reid and Heather Spoonhour and grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Steven, Grant, John and Megan. Arrangements are under the direction of the D'Elia Funeral Home 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, details to follow. Cremation will be private. Ryan, Annette O'Keefe - 90, Silver Ridge Park Westerly  
Annette O'Keefe Ryan AGE: 90 • Silver Ridge Park Westerly Annette O'Keefe Ryan nee Gaughan 90 of the Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley Township died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at home. Born in Clifton, she lived in Lavallette before moving to Silver Ridge Westerly 30 years ago. Annette worked at Community Medical Center as the Head of the EKG Department and later as a Volunteer. She was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure RC Church, Lavallette, and of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twsp. Predeceased by her first husband, John "Jack" O'Keefe and by her second husband, Jim Ryan. She is survived her sons, John of San Antonio, TX, Bill and Tom of Toms River, and her daughter, Annette of Aberdeen; sisters, Virginia Boscia and Margaret Stuckey; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are private and under the direction of The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, NJ. Catherine Salvetti AGE: 84 • Freehold Township Catherine Salvetti, 84, of Freehold Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in New Mine, Pennsylvania, she lived in New Brunswick prior to moving to Freehold 61 years ago. Mrs. Salvetti was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose. She was also a Freehold Township Committeewoman in the 1970's, and a member of the Freehold Township Senior Citizens Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, in 2010, and her son, Richard Salvetti, in 1973. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Susan Salvetti, Freehold Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Ron Brownley, Stevensville, Maryland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Joan Previte, Jamesburg, and Anthony and Virginia Previte, North Brunswick; a sister and brother-in-law, Genevieve and Frederick Carey, Winterhaven, Florida; a sister-in-law, Virginia Salvetti, Freehold Township; and four grandchildren, Nicholas and Carlo Salvetti and Holly Brownley and her husband, Matthew Penick and his daughter, Lexi, and Olivia Brownley. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, March 6 at at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Sanders, Irene Lois Herring  
Irene Lois Herring Sanders AGE: 80 • Irene Lois Herring Sanders, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Wheeling, WV. She was born on December 14, 1934 in Barnesville, PA to Alvin and Mae Herring. In 1953 she married William J. Sanders and together they raised their three children, Larry Sanders, Lee Roy Sanders and Joyce Sanders. Irene was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her son Lee Roy Sanders and her daughter Joyce Sanders. Her son, Larry Sanders predeceased her.

John J. Mroczka Schmitt, Jr. AGE: 98 • Toms River John Joseph Mroczka (aka Schmitt) of Toms River, NJ passed away Friday morning, January 30, 2015. John was born September 29, 1916 in Newark, NJ. He worked at Star Electric, Co. in Bloomfield for 20 years as an electric motor winding technician until the company moved to Connecticut. After that he worked at Walter Kiddy Co. as a quality control inspector until his retirement. He served in US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was predeceased by his parents, John J. Mroczka (aka Schmitt) and Anna (Mesco) and his brother Joseph J. Schmitt in 2012. He is survived by his nephew Daniel P Schmitt and his wife Janet of Northford, CT; grandniece Danielle J. Schmitt of Northford, CT; grandnephew Nathan Shaffer and his wife Linn of Meriden, CT; great grandnieces Mia and Camilla and great grandnephew Thor of Meriden, CT. A memorial mass will be celebrated 9:15 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1674 Old Freehold Road, Toms River. Columbine "Collie" Scrudato AGE: 84 • Bound Brook Columbine "Collie" Scrudato, 84, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Raritan Health and Extended Care in Raritan. Born in Middlesex, she was a lifelong area resident. She was an Administrative Assistant for Lockheed Martin in Watchung for 30 years before her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and trips to Long Beach Island. Collie was predeceased by her sisters, Filomena and Carolina, and her brother Albert. She is survived by her brother, Mark Cianflone and his wife Jean of Somerset, her sisters, Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Redrup of Tennessee, Mary Fasella of Bound Brook, and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, Bound Brook.

Mildred Shiff AGE: 99 • Cumming, GA Mrs. Mildred Levinson Shiff, 99, of Cumming, Georgia, died Monday at the Roswell Senior Living Center, Roswell, Georgia. Born in Perth Amboy, Mrs. Shiff lived most of her life in Highland Park and New Brunswick before moving to Georgia, four years ago. Mrs. Shiff was a lifelong member of Congregation Ahavas Achim, Highland Park, NJ. An incredible cook and a voracious reader, she enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family and friends talking politics Daughter of the late Raphael and Leah (Golumb) Levinson, Mildred was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Herman and her son, Ralph. Surviving are her daughters: Dianne "Dee" Thaler of Warwick, RI; Lucie Ann Shiff of Cumming, Georgia; her 5 grandchildren and her 5 great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5 th at 11am in the Shalom Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements are by the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick.

Shymon, Stephen J. - 86, Pipersville, Pa  
Stephen J. Shymon AGE: 86 • Pipersville, PA Stephen J. Shymon, 86, of Pipersville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Metuchen, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Christ Home Assisted Living, Warminster, Pennsylvania. Steve was born in Jersey City, and later moved to Metuchen where he resided for 52 years. He graduated from Lehigh University with a BS in Chemistry and later obtained an MBA from NYU. He served as a lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Colgate - Palmolive as a Senior Chemist for over 40 years and holds several patents. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time with friends. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Charlotte F (nee Ozut) who passed away in 2010; loving son of Stephen and Anna (nee Cheloc) Shymon. He is survived by his beloved sons Stephen and his wife Maryanne and Scott and his wife Beverly Shymon; adored grandfather of Stephen, Michael, Erica, Elissa and Emma Shymon. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Arrangements are entrusted to the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy.
