Carol A. Gray AGE: 74 • Toms River Carol A. Gray, 74, of Toms River passed away on March 28, 2015. Born in Newark, she has resided in Toms River for many years. Mrs. Gray was the first Certified Nurses Aide at Community Medical Center for many years before retiring. She was the longest surviving Lupus patient in the state of NJ. She was an avid bowler but most of all, family was first and everything to her. She had a wonderful personality and would help anyone in need. Carol is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert in 2007 and her 2 brothers, Lloyd Lawrence and Robert DePiano. Surviving are her 5 children, Robert, Jr. and his wife Pamela, William And his wife Christine, Jill Gray-Weltner, Linda Rivera and her husband Frank and Carol Cartwright and her wife Kathleen; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter and 2 sisters Barbara Roth and Arlene Hamilton. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Boulevard, Bayville, 08721. Funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30am in the funeral home before leaving for the NJ veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Grimm, James H. - 85, Bridgewater  
James H. Grimm AGE: 85 • Bridgewater James H. Grimm, 85, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. He was born in Greentown, Pa on January 9, 1930, a son of the late Harry and Blanche Hensler Grimm. He grew up in Greentown and had lived in Wenonah, NJ for many years before moving to Bridgewater in 1961. He had lived in Yokohama, Japan from 1979 to 1980. Mr. Grimm was a graduate of Penn State University receiving a degree in chemical engineering. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Grimm was a chemical engineer employed by Mobil Oil for 42 years beginning his career in the Paulsboro office, then working out of New York City, and finally retiring from the Lawrenceville location in 1994. Jim was a longtime member, Elder and Deacon of the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church. He served on the Board of Directors of "Brand New Day", a mission project of the church establishing housing in Elizabethport, NJ. He was a member of the Mobil Annuitants Club, and in his younger years, served as a fireman with the Wenonah Fire Department. In his retirement, Jim was a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Somerville. Most of all, he was an active supporter in his children's and grandchildren's academic and athletic endeavors. He was predeceaseed by a sister, Jean Grimm. Mr. Grimm is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, Elizabeth Ann Waltz "Betty" Grimm; his seven children, Cheryl and Tom Schuman of Venice, FL, Susan and Jeff Mohr of Milton, DE, Bob and Cindy Grimm of North Brunswick, Stephen and Gayle Grimm of Orlando, FL, Linda and Ken Suttmeier of Pattenburg, Bill and Paula Grimm of Branford, CT and Janice and Ed King of South Plainfield; 15 grandchildren, Kristen and Rudy, Patrick, Jessica and Anthony, Jeffrey, James, Jennifer and Chris, Jillian and Doug, Maggie and Laz, Kay, Ben, Josh, Amy, Julia, Natalie and Alanna; 4 great grandchildren, Troy, Tyler, Madilin and Trace; and a sister, Gertrude Blitz of Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral service at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 1 at 11:00am followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. Interment will take place on Thursday at Hopedale Moravian Cemetery, Greene Township, Pa. Relatives and friends may visit at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Tuesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 14 West Cliff Street, Somerville, NJ 08876.

Herbert, Harry - 86, Wading River  
Harry Herbert AGE: 86 • Wading River Harry Herbert, 86, of Wading River peacefully departed this life at his home in Wading River on March 25, 2015. He was the beloved father of Daughter Amanda Somes (Frank). He was born in Bay Head, NJ in 1928. He attended school in Bay Head and graduated from Point Pleasant High School. He lived a full life as a master of many crafts and skills. In his youth, he was a lifeguard on the beaches of Bay Head and Point Pleasant, a fisherman, clammer, and boat builder working alongside his uncle Hank (Tilton) at Johnson's Boat Yard. Later he would travel out West to Colorado and Montana and ride bucking horses in the rodeos and traveled to the Rocky Mountains to be a pack guide to many Hollywood Stars. He traveled the world working in Power Plants. He was a master of many crafts as a carpenter, cabinet maker and wood worker. He moved to South Jersey in 1972 and settled in Wading River and Lower Bank. He later made horse saddles and took up oil painting and jewelry making. Even at 86 years young he made model boats. He is predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Phillips) and long time beloved partner of 40 years, Doris (Ryder). Mother, Lola; father, Lewis; and brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Somes (Frank); granddaughters, Teri Giercyk (Michael), Leann Somes (Matt Magrone), Brenda Somes (Adam Fike); great-grandchilren, John, Frank and Baby Dottie Giercyk. He was treasured "Pop Pop" to Barbara Somes (Horace), Robert Somes (Erin), Howard Somes, Shannon and James Somes. A private Memorial will be scheduled at a later date. Hochberg, Frances Perelberg - 89, Freehold Twp.  
Frances Hochberg AGE: 89 • Freehold Twp. Frances Perelberg Hochberg died Thursday, March 26, at the Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center in Freehold Township. She was 89. Born to Philip and Becky Perelberg in New York, she married Frederick Hochberg at age 19, and the two lived briefly in New York before moving to Red Bank, and ultimately to Tinton Falls, where they raised their family. Frances worked for more than 30 years as an English teacher and department supervisor at Monmouth Regional High School. Predeceased by her husband, Frederick Hochberg, in 1993, and by her brother, Morris Pearlberg, she is survived by her daughter, Terri Steinberg, of Howell, her son, Kent Hochberg, of Monmouth Junction, five grandchildren, and four great-granddaughters. A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 29, 11:30am, at the Congregation B'nai Israel Cemetery, Riverdale Avenue West, Tinton Falls, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Ii, Richard Carlton Rapp - 77, Waxahachie, Tx  
Richard Carlton Rapp II AGE: 77 • Waxahachie, TX Richard Carlton Rapp II, age 77, of Waxahachie Texas passed away, at home, March 22,2015, with his family by his side. A long time resident of Somerset, NJ, until 1988, Richard was born in Sewickely,Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Richard and Margery (Ingram) Rapp. He graduated from Roselle Park High School and was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1957-1961. He had a long career as a professional truck driver, employed by Railway Express and later Union Carbide. His career came full circle when employed as a director of education for MTA truck driving school in Bridgewater, NJ, Denver, CO, Corona, CA and Waxahachie, TX. Rick enjoyed volunteering as a fireman with East Franklin Fire Company and also as an EMT with Community First Aid Squad, both in Somerset, NJ. Predeceasing him in death was his loving daughter, Marianne Rapp Fotheringham, in 2012. Surviving are his beloved wife of 55 years, Claire Rapp (Boright); his loving children, Cyndi Celinskis (Andrew), Richard Rapp III, and Glenn Rapp (Debbie); 9 granddaughters, 4 grandsons and 3(one expected in September) great-grandchildren; sister, Marcia Rapp Griesi; brothers, Ronald Rapp (Cathy) and James Rapp (Marlene). He will, forever, be in our hearts. A graveside memorial service will be held in Economy, PA at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Soceity.

Bruce Morecraft, III AGE: 66 • Brick Bruce Morecraft, III, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Plainfield on November 19, 1948 to Bruce, Jr. and Elaine Nelson Morecraft. He had resided in Piscataway most of his life and in Brick for the last 10 years as well as in Islamorada, FL. Bruce had worked as a meter reader with Public Service Electric & Gas Company in Bridgewater for 30 years before retiring in 2002. He was a longtime member of the Thayandaga Rod and Gun Club in Piscataway. He greatly enjoyed fishing, the beach and music. His family includes a daughter, April Morecraft and her husband, Jay Holtz of Piscataway; two grandchildren, twins Elsa and Sidney Holts; and two step-sons, Ronald Dohanish of Wilmington, DE and Michael Dohanish of Cleveland, OH. A memorial gathering will be held at The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Surfrider Foundation ( www.surfrider.org )

Johnson, James B. (Jim) - 57, Westfield  
James (Jim) B. Johnson AGE: 57 • Westfield James (Jim) B. Johnson, 57, died unexpectedly March 26, 2015. Born in Somerville and a graduate of Hillsborough High School in 1975. He was Captain of the boys varsity Basketball Team receiving the honors of First team all county, First team all conference, and First Team all area respectively. He furthered his education attending Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA, and named Captain of its basketball team. There Jim made E.C.A.C. player of the week numerous times and first team all conference. Upon graduation, he attended Capital University Law School in Ohio obtaining his Law degree. Jim became a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, building his Law practice in Somerville, NJ. While practicing law, he worked alongside of his preceded father, Frank J. Johnson. Establishing his residence in Westfield, NJ, Jim enjoyed spending precious time with his two boys traveling and attending sporting events. Jim was an avid sports enthusiast attending the Big East basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden on a yearly basis. Also being a big sport memorabilia collector, Jim's preference was collecting old school sports items dated from 1940's thru the 1960's. Other enjoyments of Jim's was selling items on Ebay, cooking breakfast for family and having a creativity in his food presentations. Jim will be deeply missed by family members, friends, and colleagues. Jim is survived is his loving wife Terri (Freeman) Johnson. Jim is also survived by his two loving children, Troy Johnson, 26 and Brett Johnson, 23. In addition other family survived are his mother Elizabeth Johnson, brother Dale Johnson, sister Kimberly Weber; and 7 loving nieces and nephews who all reside in Hillsborough, and numerous cousins. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29 and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30 at the Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung. Mass will follow visitation on Monday at the funeral home.

Laura, born on Sept. 25, 1924 in Staten Island, married Pasquale LaFragola in 1948. She is survived by her four children, Elizabeth Gaus, Patricia Stranburg, Michael LaFragola and Sharon Eyman; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson and her sister, Jennie Rivers.
