SIMMONS
AGE: 82
BORN IN RED BANK
Elvira "Frieda" Simmons, 82, received God's reverent request on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at about 8:30 a.m. She is now with Him, as she shares the gift of everlasting life through Jesus Christ. Her final days involved battling numerous complications following a surgical procedure. Frieda was born in Red Bank and was the sixth of eight children in the DeChicchio Family.
A longtime resident of Pompano Beach, she is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jimmie. Elvira's passions included cooking Italian food, sewing and politics, but most important were her beloved children, James Simmons and Katharine Greene; and her precious granddaughter, Jordan Greene.
Her children will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Kraeer Funeral Home, 1199 E. Sample Road, Pompano Beach, Fla. A Funeral Mass will be held for her at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary. The internment will immediately follow at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. Her children will have a reception for her at her house, following the internment at 1 p.m.

My Dear Cousin "Friedi",
How you made me laugh when I was a child. You were always the life and sparkle of the family. The house on Bank street was always resounding with your country music which even I grew to like. They were very special days for our family, and you were a very special part of it. I'd say rest in peace, but with you and Uncle Louie up there I'm betting it will be anything but peaceful. To the family of Frieda Simmons, we are so sorry for your loss. My mom Emily Annecchini White and your mom Frieda were such good friends in RedBank. I remember your mom coming over all the time and visiting before she moved to florida. I think the last time they spoke was about 15 yrs. ago when your mom called my mom and she was so excited to hear from her. Your mom always had a special place in my moms heart.
