Alfred (Fred) Dell'Isola, 81, Manasquan, (formerly of Brooklyn, NY), passed away on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Alfred was born on Nov. 13, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the youngest of eight children. Alfred was married to his beloved wife, Julia Dell'Isola, also of Brooklyn for 59 years. He retired from the NYC Department of Sanitation in 1978. He moved to Manasquan, NJ five years ago. Alfred enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. veteran of the Korean War
. He served in the military for 3 years where he earned several medals including the Purple Heart
. Fred was one of the few survivors from the 31st Infantry Regiment of the 7th Division from the Choisin Reservoir. He was wounded during a Communist attack as he was trying to make his way back to his command post on Nov. 29, 1950. Fred's discipline and patriotism for his country were second to none. He is commended for his dedication and bravery.
Alfred is predeceased by his parents, John and Nicoletta Dell'Isola (also of Brooklyn, NY); and his son, John Dell'Isola. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia; his son, Tommy; his grandchildren, John and Jennifer Dell'Isola; his sister-in-law, Philomena Zarcone and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and Family are invited to visit from 1 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at St. Dominic Church, Brick. Interment will follow at Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
