Amelia Ubinas was born to her dearly departed mother and father, Juana Mendez and Cirilo Diaz. On June 29, 1957, Amelia was married to her dearly departed husband, James. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together until James's passing on June 27, 2013.

Amelia was a graduate from the Roman Beauty Academy in Paterson, NJ in the early 1970's. After settling in Toms River, Amelia excelled as a prominent beautician and with her excellent management skills, Amelia managed various beauty salons over the next several years. During a short move back to New York City in the early 80's, Amelia became a full accredited teacher at one of New York's more prominent beauty schools. Upon moving back to Toms River in the mid 80's, Amelia opened her own successful beauty salon, "STYLES" off of Hwy. 37 West in Toms River in 1985. Amelia successfully ran her salon for over several years before selling it to a former business partner in the 90's.

Amelia and her husband, James retired in their 60's in Toms River, NJ, then enjoyed several years of retirement in Ocala FL, relocating back to Toms River in 2011.

Amelia enjoyed her kids and grandchildren immensely. She loved being surrounded by family and friends. Amelia instilled a "can do anything," "can accomplish anything" philosophy. She never let obstacles stop her. Amelia would also stop at nothing to ensure her kids, family and friends were safe and provided for. That legacy will live on with her children and her grandchildren. Amelia was a treasure to all who knew her and will always be remembered by the lives she's touched.
