Anna Bruining, 87, of Middle Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior late Friday, March 15, 2013 at her home. She was born on Jan. 13, 1926 in Passaic, NJ, a daughter of the late Peter C. and Mabel (DeWaal) Van Loon. In 1947, she married Richard J. Bruining who preceded her in death in 1999. Anna attended New York University
where she studied Music and also studied music focusing on organ at Guillemont School of Music. Eventually, she received further credits to become a kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Bruining taught private piano and organ lessons and worked as a kindergarten teacher for 27 years in Brick, NJ. Anna attended Faith Baptist Church in Beaver Springs. She served as a church organist for 71 years in various churches which she attended during her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, baking and always especially enjoyed music.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Richard Jones of Beavertown, and Maeann and David Johnson of New Columbia; four grandchildren and spouses, Richard Jones and wife Samantha, William Jones and wife Jo Anna, Amanda Butler and husband Nathan and Brittany Johnson; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by one son, Peter Bruining, and one brother, Alfred Van Loon.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown,where the funeral will follow at 7:30 p.m., with Rev. E. Denton Mallonee officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at Kettle Creek Cemetery in Brick, NJ, with Pastor Tom Brown officiating.
