Arthur "Skip" Leo Stone

AGE: 58 • Browns Mills

Arthur "Skip" Leo Stone, 58, of Browns Mills, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012. Born in Neptune, he later moved to Cranford where he spent most of his adult life. He served in the United States Army, Second Division from 1973 to 1979, and was stationed in Korea. For the past 13 years, he worked as a Line Clearance Engineer for Nelson Tree Service, Inc., and was a member of IBEW Local 94. Art was a talented musician, artist and craftsman. He was best known, however, as a living historian. He spent countless hours learning and living the history of the Civil War. He felt most at home on the Gettysburg National Park battlefield, and was universally respected and admired for his devotion to the art and science of reenacting. He touched many lives, and will be missed by all of those who were lucky to know him.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Denise Stone; his daughters, April Stone and her partner Luke Biancanello, of New Derry, New Hampshire, Melissa Mueller and her partner, Jamie Conner, of Keansburg, and Jennifer Boyle and her husband Luke, of Atlantic Highlands; three grandchildren, Joseph Zeidlik of China, Maine, Shayne Stone of New Derry, New Hampshire, and Christian Mueller of Keansburg; his sisters and brothers, Bonnie Stone, Mary Stone, William Stone, Michael Stone, and Rolando Gonzalez; nieces, nephews, many cousins; and his loyal friends and Pards.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, with funeral services at 4 p.m. at Posten's Funeral Home, 59 E. Lincoln Ave., Atlantic Highlands.
