Arthur W. Fletcher, 82, of Toms River, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Born in Weehawken, he was formerly of Weehawken before moving to Toms River 27 years ago. He was the police captain for the Weehawken Police Dept. for 25 years before retiring in 1982. Arthur received his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University. He also worked for the Department of Labor, Trenton for 10 years before retiring in 1993. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Manitou Park Volunteer Fire Dept., Berkeley Twp. for 12 years, where he served as Fire Police Captain and as trustee.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Annamarie; his children, Deborah & her husband Thomas Schober, Rumson, Keith & his wife Susan, Ridgewood & Gary, Toms River; and his grandchildren, Thomas, Kristen & her husband Jamie, Michael & his wife Jennifer, Joshua, Todd, Brittany, Ashley, Victoria & Holly.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 23 at the Family Owned Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at St. Maximillian Kolbe R.C. Church, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
