Brian R. Armbruster, 40, of Toms River, NJ passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at home after a 2 year courageous battle with cancer. Born in Portsmouth, VA, he lived in Eatontown, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1981. Brian graduated from Toms River High School North in 1991, where he was a member of the school's football team. In his junior and senior years, Brian was the team's MVP and was named to the All County Football Team. He would later receive his Bachelor's Degree through Ocean County College, Toms River. After graduating, he worked as a substitute teacher and football coach at High School North. Brian was then hired by the Seaside Park Police Department and graduated in the 70th Class of the Ocean County Police Academy. Brian began his New Jersey Transit police career 14 years ago as a Police Officer. He would then go on and attain the rank of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the NJ Transit Emergency Services Unit, serving on the Transit's Fire Department and Scuba Rescue. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Local 37 and the Toms River Elks Lodge 1875.

Surviving are his parents, Robert and Susan Armbruster of Toms River; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Sandra Armbruster of Toms River; a sister, Suzanne Kindred of Brick, NJ; 2 nieces, Emily Kindred & Megan Armbruster and a nephew, David Kindred. He is also survived by extended families.

The family will receive friends Friday, 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 10:00am at St. Joseph RC Church, Toms River. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
