Carney A. Johnson, 71, of Eatontown, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. He was born in Long Branch, NJ and grew up in Red Bank/Fair Haven. He honorably served our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army and continued his service as a civil servant for the Department of Defense, CECOM, as a Logistics Assistance Representative, retiring from Fort Monmouth, NJ. Carney moved to Tulsa, OK, where he attended Rhema Bible Training College on scholarship and graduated as a missionary. Carney loved to travel, especially to South Korea where he married and where his daughter, Ann was born. He was an avid golfer winning many tournaments and a softball umpire for the Fort Monmouth ASA.

He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Armenia Johnson; and his sister, Allita (Dollie) Johnson-Miles. Carney is survived by his daughter, Ann Johnson-Pichardo; two granddaughters, Adia and Anaya Pichardo; his brother, Gary Johnson; sister, Sarah (Mitzie) O'Neal; cousin, Maureen Cabaniss-Perkins, and a host of nieces & nephews.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, with a service at 11:30 a.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, with interment to follow at Brig.
