AGE: 65 • Trenton

Charles Terrance Hedgepeth, 65, was born on Feb. 3, 1947 in Long Branch, NJ to the late Jesse C. Hedgepeth and the late Pauline Hedgepeth Lawson, then of Matawan, NJ. He passed from this life on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at his Trenton, NJ home, after a gradual decline in health. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, earning an honorable discharge in recognition of service to his country. He attended St. James A.M.E. Zion Church in Matawan. Terry had a passion for music, particularly jazz. At an early age, he dedicated himself to becoming a talented guitarist and, mostly self-taught, he succeeded. The acoustic guitar was his chosen instrument. He played solo and group engagements at various venues through the years and enjoyed tutoring others in the craft, especially children. Terry was kind, respectful, and compassionate. He will be remembered for his music, thought-provoking conversation, friendliness, and positive outlook.

He leaves behind two sons, Terrance M. Hedgepeth of Trenton, and Sean C. Hedgepeth (Michelande) of Delanco; four siblings, Michael A. Lawson (Lanyero) of Vera Cruz, Mexico, Lynne Hedgepeth of Johns Creek, GA; two grandchildren, Shaniyah Carmichael and Jaiden Hedgepeth; an aunt, Laura "Dot" Carter of Keyport; and other loving family and friends. He will be missed.
