Constance "Connie" D. Wenning, 58, of West Long Branch, died Thursday, October 17 at home. Connie was a 1973 graduate of Shore Regional High School, and a 1978 graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. During her career, she worked in retail/merchandising and later as a graduate student in computer science at Monmouth College, was employed by AT&T Bell Labs. Above everything, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend. Connie was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 145 in West Long Branch, and swim mom with the Red Bank YMCA team. She was a volunteer for over 14 years in the West Long Branch school system, serving on the PTA and as a member of the Shore Regional Quarterback Club. She had a life-long love of the beach, where during summers she spent countless hours with family and friends. She fought a valiant battle against breast cancer
for seven years, participating in clinical trials, hoping that the results would benefit others.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Anna Margaret Ostergaard and her mother-in-law Claudia Wenning. Surviving is her husband of 26 years, Dennis Wenning of Wenning Wholesale Foods in Long Branch, her son Louis B. Wenning, and her daughter Victoria Rae Wenning; her brother, Robert Ostergaard, Jr. and wife Colleen; her sisters, Kristin Ostergaard and her husband Clarence York, Amy Mayer and her husband, Donald C., and Regina Ostergaard-Klem and her husband Christopher; her father-in-law Bud Wenning; brothers-in-law Drew Wenning, Michael Wenning and his wife Jane; her sisters-in-law Jan Wenning and Peg Riley and her husband John; 7 nieces and one great nephew in the Ostergaard family; 6 nephews, one great niece and two great nephews in the Wenning family.
