AGE: 60 • Jewett, NY
Oct. 30, 1952-Aug. 7, 2013
Deirdre was born in Long Branch, NJ in 1952. She attended Star of the Sea from Kindergarten through 8th grade and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1970. After high school, Deirdre was one of the first female physics majors at Monmouth College (now Monmouth University). Following graduation, Mrs. Cunningham found employment with the Department of Defense at Fort Monmouth serving various roles over her 30 year tenure.
When she retired in 2003, Deirdre moved to her second home in Vermont where she loved skiing at Mt. Snow. Later she moved to Jewett, NY, where she was able to spend her free time on the slopes of Windham. Mrs. Cunningham was an active woman who was dedicated to fitness and health, the most challenging opponent at Scrabble you could meet, and lover of crossword puzzles and brain teasers. She was a doting grandmother who loved to sew elaborate costumes for her grandchildren each Halloween.
Mrs. Cunningham was predeceased by her parents, Arthur C. and Alice T. Ryan of Eatontown. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Dr. Peter E. Cunningham of Jewett, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Kerry Kijewski Baker and William Baker of Livingston, and her two grandchildren, Lauren and William. She also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and James Maziarz of North East, MD and two nephews and a niece, Patrick, Seamus and Caitlin Maziarz.
