Dolores Marie Laporta (nee DeMaio), joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012. She was born in Summit, NJ to Alexander and Clotilde (Darpa) DeMaio. She attended Summit High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from New Jersey State Teachers College, pursuing a career in that field. She married Dr. Michael L. Laporta of Calimera, Italy, residing and raising her family in West Long Branch, NJ. She and her husband also lived for 6 years in Brindisi, Italy. For nearly 25 years, Mrs. Laporta called Fort Myers, FL, home. She was a devout Roman Catholic, an ordained third-order Franciscan, and a very active parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Fort Myers. Mrs. Laporta served at the church for many years, most recently as the Director of Lector Ministry. Additionally, she enjoyed volunteering as a Goodwill Ambassador at the Southwest Florida International Airport, meeting new people and assisting them with their travels.

Mrs. Laporta was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Michael; her companion, James R. McBride; sister, Clementina Scarinzi; sister, Angelina Masi; and brother, Dr. Walter DeMaio. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Mark A. LaPorta (Grace) of Roseland, FL, Lt. Col. (USAF Ret) Paul A. Laporta (Chris) of Niceville, FL, Anne Laporta of Calimera, Italy, and Dr. David M. Laporta (Katie) of Oceanport, along with 10 grandchildren.

A private service was held for her immediate family, and a celebration of her life will be held in Fort Myers on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent in her name to the Church of the Resurrection, 8121 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919.
