AGE: 82 • Forked River

Doris Flynn, 82, of Forked River, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at her daughter's house surrounded by loving family. Born Doris Johnsen in Brooklyn, the daughter of Reidar and Olga Johnsen (Nielsen), she resided on Staten Island and Union, NJ before moving to the Pheasant Run Adult Community in Forked River 19 years ago. Mrs. Flynn was a secretary for many years at Standard Oil and Northfield Savings Bank and a secretary - office manager at International Paint. Mrs. Flynn was devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an avid Mets fan, enjoyed bowling, traveling, reading, sewing, crafts, crocheting, card games and being with friends and her devoted family but especially her grandsons. She was an active member of the Village Lutheran Church Ladies Guild, an active member of the Sons of Norway, a volunteer at the Southern Ocean County Hospital Thrift Shop, a volunteer for Caregivers of Ocean County and a member of numerous Pheasant Run organizations. Doris provided many wonderful handmade gifts through her crocheting and sewing to those in need.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Einar Andrew Eide in 1976 and John Flynn in 1998. She leaves behind her daughter, Laura and her husband Mike Averill; and her grandsons, Karl and Andrew; her son, Glenn Eide and his wife Denise; her brother, Norman, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Village Lutheran Church 701 Western Blvd., Lanoka Harbor, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Village Lutheran Church or the Boy Scouts of America - for Troop 414.
