Edward F. Pokus

Edward F. Pokus, 93, of Middletown, NJ, died on November 16, 2013 peacefully at home. He was born in Detroit, MI and lived in the Middletown area before moving to Shadow Lake 33 years ago. Edward was owner and operator of Pokus Auto Body in Middletown since 1959. After he retired he spent most of his free time working with his son and daughter-in-law at Eagle Crest Horse Farm until just a few years ago. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Beacon Hill Country Club for over 35 years as well as Heron Country Club, Myrtle Beach, where he and his wife Betty spent their winters. He was not a carpenter by trade but loved to build things and give them away. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy
. He served in the South Pacific and was stationed in Pearl Harbor from 1945 until his discharge in 1948.
Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth (Betty) of 72 years; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Maryann Pokus Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his 3 sisters, Stella Moss, Helen Hill, Bertha Hoffman, and his brother, Max Pokus.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Services will be held at 7:30 pm during visitation. Cremation will be private.
