Florence Shapiro Rosenberg

Florence Shapiro Rosenberg, 84 of Wilmington, Massachusetts and Toms River, New Jersey, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. She was one of four sisters who were born to the late Samuel and Sophie Shapiro on Feb. 26, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. Florence graduated New York University in 1948 and received a BA in Biology. She married the late Richard Rosenberg in 1949, and they lived together Brooklyn, New York and Springfield. New Jersey, before relocating to Toms River in 1987.

Florence was a devoted wife, mother and sister. Her marriage and family were the centerpiece of her life. She was kind, optimistic, loving, and had a brilliant way of expressing herself and solving problems. Florence loved to travel, and took multiple trips across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia in her lifetime.

Florence is survived by two children, Steven Rosenberg of Boston, Massachusetts and Gail McGovern of Washington, DC. She also is survived by four grandchildren.

Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer Research Foundation. Arrangements are by Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, Paramus, NJ.
