Fred Fiore Sr., 82, of West Long Branch, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. He was born and raised in Long Branch where he lived until moving to West Long Branch in 1976. He wintered in Palm Beach, Florida for the past 30 years. He was a communicant of Christ the King Parish in Long Branch. He was an Army
veteran serving in Germany.
Mr. Fiore was the owner of Vincent Frederick Dry Cleaners in West End for several years. He was a foreman for JF Kiely Construction Company in Long Branch before retiring. He also worked as a pari-mutuel clerk at Monmouth Park Racetrack for many years before retiring in 1991. He worked evenings at the Monmouth Regional Sewerage Authority in Monmouth Beach before retiring. In 1996, he along with his son opened the Fiore Funeral Home in West Long Branch and then in 2008 they opened a second location in Oakhurst, Ocean Township.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid lover of sports, horseracing and technology. He also loved his dog, Rocky.
He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Carmella Vitola Fiore and his brothers and sisters, Rose Ratti, Ann Oliverio and Samuel, John, Angelo, Benjamin, Stanley and Richard Fiore. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Tina Cafolla Fiore; 3 children, Fred Fiore, Jr., Anna Farro and her husband Marc and Anthony Fiore; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Diane-Lauren and Matthew Fiore and Valentina Farro; 2 brothers, Vincent and his wife Roberta Fiore and Edward and his wife Carol Fiore; along with brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Long Branch. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
