Frederick William Ebner, 67, of Toms River, passed on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Community Medical Center. Born in Newark, he lived in Brick for 40 years prior to moving to Toms River three years ago. Fred graduated from St. Benedict's Prep and Rutgers University in Newark with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Navy between 1967 and 1973. From 1968 to 1970, he was on active duty on Board the USS Harold J. Ellison DD864. Fred was a Computer Programmer for Prudential Life & Casualty in Holmdel for over 40 years; he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church; he was a member of the Bowling League and VFW 8885 of Greenbriar Woodlands; he was an avid fan of the Blue Claws; and he volunteered his time doing tax returns for AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his daughters, Tricia Ebner and Tara and her husband David Bain, Tracey Ebner, and Tiffany and her husband Dan Gaestel; his grandchildren, Lexie & Catie; and his brother, George and his wife Olga. He is survived also by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Fred loved his special companions, Willy, Jack & Skippy.

Visiting will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Funeral Services 10 a.m. Monday, March 11; arrive at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Newark Beth Israel Cardiac Transplant Center, 201 Lions Ave., Newark, NJ 07112 in memory of Fred.
