Gavin W. Siciliano, 81, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at Jersey Shore Medical Center surrounded by his loving wife of 62 years Marie and his seven sons. He was born on October 23rd 1932 and was preceded in death by his parents Dante and Bettina Siciliano, sister Mary Ann Slover and sister Carol Condon. Gavin was raised in Asbury Park and served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 - 1954 as a Radio Communication Electronic Repairman and was the recipient of the Distinguished Military Service medal. He was an active member and past post commander for the Mount Carmel Post 714 War Veterans in Asbury Park and had been the chairman of the poppy sale for many years. It was while he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois that he met and married Marie Madden on September 1, 1951. They returned to New Jersey and settled in Oakhurst, where they raised their seven sons.

He was an integral part in establishing the Ocean Township Pop Warner Football Program and served as a past president and was also active in the Ocean Township Little League organization. Gavin was a founding member of the Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean, serving as its first secretary and continued to assist the club and enjoy his membership until his death. Gavin received his Real Estate license in 1970 and in 1979 co-founded the Gavin Agency with his wife Marie. He was an active member of the New Jersey Association of REALTORS and Monmouth County Association of REALTORS where he served as a member on the board of directors, secretary, first vice president and in 1995 was named Realtor of the Year.

His greatest wealth was his family. Since his retirement, Gavin has enjoyed his family and taken much pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed nothing more than traveling to an event that a grandchild was involved in, while smiling ear to ear with pride. He is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, Gerry and wife Paula, Gavin and wife Penny, Ric and wife Betsy, Tony and wife Pamela, Tim and wife Myra, Chris and Lisa Green and Randy; grandchildren, John, Matthew, Jenna, Christina, Joseph, Tara, Andrew and his wife Marcella, Regina, Jeffrey, Kathleen, Anthony, Ryan, Phillip and Frances; brother, Frank and his wife Frances and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at Buckley Funeral Home, 509 2nd Ave., Asbury Park. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Monday, Nov 4, 2013 at St. Mary's Church, 46 Richmond Ave., Deal, with the interment to follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
