AGE: 85 • Neptune

George E. Milne, 85, passed away on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at Jersey Shore Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Middletown before moving to Neptune. George proudly served our country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a Jersey City firefighter for thirty-five years where he attained the rank of Deputy Chief. He earned his B.S. in Fire Science and Business Administration from Jersey City State College in 1979. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with the "Briody Bunch" in Rumson. He was also an avid Mets and Giants fan. What he loved most of all was spending time with his family and friends.

George was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary (Hopf) Milne and his sisters, Kay Keelan and Marie Ashkenis. Surviving him are his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia A. (Murphy) Milne; his sons, George of Michigan, Michael and wife Irene of Millstone, David of Howell, Gregory and wife Gail of Middletown, Kevin and wife Michele Walter of Atlantic Highlands; and his daughter, Erin and husband Brendan Drew of Atlantic Highlands. Also surviving are his seven adored grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Kelsey, Andrew and Sarah Milne, and Fiona and Colin Drew.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Innocence Church in Neptune on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery in Sea Girt.
