James Brickley, 60, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at home. James was born in New York City, NY, resided in Jackson Twp., and then lived most of his life in Virginia Beach, VA, until settling in Jackson Twp. 4 years ago. James was a United States Navy
Veteran, serving his country for over 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer before his retirement. After his retirement from the Navy, he was employed as a Welding Teacher for the Norfolk School District for 20 years before his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson Twp. James was a member of the VFW
Post #4703 in Jackson Twp. He was also a member of the Tidewater Boy Scout Council in Virginia Beach.
He was predeceased by his father, Hugh Joseph Brickley; and his wife, Kathleen Brickley in 2009. He is survived by his sons, Patrick James Brickley of CA, Timothy James Brickley of VA, and Brian James Brickley of VA; Melissa Cooley of VA, who was like a daughter to him; his mother, Helen (Brickley) Blair of Jackson Twp.; his brothers, Hughie and Kathy Brickley of NY, Joseph and Linda Brickley of AZ, Peter Brickley of Browns Mills, Michael and Joyce Blair of Toms River, and Ed and Trish Blair of VA; his sisters, Jo-Ann (Brickley) and Claude D'Alessio of Manville, Helen (Brickley) Erickson of Jackson Twp., Patricia (Blair) and Joseph Mathos of Milville, and Eileen Blair of FL; his 3 beautiful grandchildren, Haylei and Bryce Brickley of VA (twins), and Lauren Kathleen of VA; and his beloved dog, Eli.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Visitation on Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 5-9 PM with his Funeral Service at 8:00 PM at The George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ, 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 11, 2013, at the funeral home. His interment will follow at 10:30 AM in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Arneytown, NJ.
