James David Taylor, 91, of Neptune, NJ, died March 16, 2014 at Manor By The Sea, in Ocean Grove, NJ. Born in Princeton, and raised his parents' horse farm there, James fostered a life-long love of animals and wildlife. His family eventually moved to the shore area, where he played several sports for Asbury Park HS, graduating in 1941. He pitched baseball for several local teams, including the "BlackHawks" before becoming a veteran of WWII, proudly serving as a medic and then a technical sergeant in the Pacific Theatre, on the Saipan, Guam, & Kwajein Islands. Jim then attended Murray State University in Kentucky, playing sports & earning his bachelor's degree, before attending & earning his Master's degree in Education Administration from Rutgers University. He then returned to the shore area, coaching, teaching, and becoming a department chairperson in the Wall Township School System for almost 39 years. When not cheering on his favorite Wall teams, the NY Giants, or Murry State, Jim was on the golf course or Belmar beach, at estate sales & flea markets, attending Scottish festivals, or photographing Jersey beach areas.

Jim was predeceased by his father, James Sr. (Aberdenn, Scotland), his mother Mary (Dundee, Scotland) and his wife Florence (nee Kilmas; Crnaford, NJ). Surviving are his son, David; daughter, Deborah; and longtime close friends Rose Marie Ziolkowski, Cliff Applegate, and his beloved pet, "Moirran-mommycat".

Visiting will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM at the funeral home and burial will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
