Jane B. Fagundus

Jane B. Fagundus, 93, died peacefully in her home at Acorn Glen Assisted Living on September 2, 2013. Jane, nee Mary Jane Bowers, was born in 1920 in Chambersburg, PA and grew up in Woodbury, NJ. She earned her bachelor's degree in teaching at Glassboro State Teachers College. A war bride, she and her husband Frank moved to north Jersey after WWII
and raised a family of five children in Basking Ridge. Jane was a homemaker and very active in volunteer work. She directed the Sunday school at church, and later ran the church's Service Desk. She also served as the president of the local PTA, and served in several official capacities in the Women's Club of Bernardsville, in which she was active until her late 80's. She also served as parliamentarian and as treasurer of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs.
Jane was predeceased by her husband Frank S. Fagundus Jr., former mayor of Bernards Township; by her son Donald; and daughters Janet and Anne. She is survived by her daughter Carol Fagundus of West Windsor, her son and daughter-in-law David and Susan Fagundus of Hingham, MA, and her grandsons Timothy and Patrick.
Gifts in lieu of flowers may be given to the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church. A service of thanksgiving for the life of Jane Fagundus will be held at the chapel of the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1 East Oak Street, Basking Ridge, NJ on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00am.
