Joan M. Festa (nee Giaccio), 78, of Morganville, passed away on Monday March 12, 2012 at home. She was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Aberdeen for many years before moving to Morganville. Joan helped manage the family business, Festa Nursery and Landscaping along with her husband Gene. In addition, she was the proud founder and dedicated member of the Dante Alighieri Women's Society of Central Jersey. She spearheaded many notable endeavors: raising money for charitable causes and college scholarship awards. Recently, she and her Dante sisters traveled to Washington D.C. and proudly watched as their society's name was immortalized on the Walk of Honor at the National Italian American Foundation. Above all, her most cherished role was that of loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Eugene E. Festa in 2008. She leaves behind her 3 devoted sons and 2 daughters-in-law Eugene and Grace Festa, and Peter and Paula Festa, of Matawan and Michael Festa of Morganville whom she lived, her caring sister, Constance Petrillo of Aberdeen, and her 6 adored grandchildren, Dr. Eugene, Christine, Peter, Jacqueline, Nicholas, and Christopher Festa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at 11am at St. Clement Church, Matawan, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
