John "Jack" Casey
AGE: 75 • Eatontown
Jack Casey, of Eatontown, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the Geraldine L. Thompson Care Center in Allenwood, after a long illness. Jack was born in Huntington, Indiana and raised in Mooresville, Indiana. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and spent over 20 years in the service of his country. His service included two tours of duty in Vietnam during which he won the Silver Star for heroism, as well as two Bronze Stars
. As an artillery officer, he was stationed from Oklahoma to Italy and ended his career at Fort Monmouth. After retiring from the Army in 1981, he settled in Eatontown, where he continued to contribute to the military by working for several local government contractors. Jack was loved by all who knew him for his intelligence, humor and dedication to family.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Denise. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Macina; his sisters, Jill Sanburn and Carol Nevins; daughter, Karen and her husband Brian Haug; his three sons (from his first marriage to Donna Casey) and their wives, Jeff Casey and Stacy Nick, Gregg Casey and Mary Beth Sullivan, and Sean and Jayne Casey; and his grandchildren whom he loved so much, Christina, Devon, Marlena, Carly, Maeve, and Jake.
A memorial gathering will be held in January to honor Jack and remember him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project.
