John J. "Jack" Larkin

John J. "Jack" Larkin, 72, of Long Branch, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, NY to his late parents John and Genevieve Larkin. Jack served his country as a Marine from 1958-1961, but lived by the motto "Once A Marine Always A Marine." Jack was a Tax Accountant for Tenaco for 8 years, First Fidelity Bank for 10 years and the State of California for 10 years. He officially retired in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Marielle; his three sisters, Genevieve, Margaret and Ann Marie; and by his brother, Matthew. Jack has six nephews and three nieces, one great-nephew and four great-nieces.
In his retirement, you could find him at the Long Branch boardwalk enjoying a long stroll and listening to his books on tape. His other enjoyments were reading to children through the Family & Children Services and being a part of the Old Bridge Gun & Rifle Club.
At the end of the day, he truly loved family dinnertime with his wife and daughter and then have "quality" hour with Bill O'Reilly at 8 o'clock each night.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 22 at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Ocean Avenue, Long Branch. Interment in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
