John P. Byrne

John P. Byrne, 78, of Manasquan passed away on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. John was born and raised in The Bronx, NY where he graduated from Power Memorial High School. He moved to the shore area in 1968 and lived in Manasquan for 42 years. John was an army
veteran and a Past Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #3231. He worked as a stereotyper for 54 years retiring from the Daily News in 2010. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always thought positively and when asked how things were his response was always "good, good, good." John loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed being with and photographing his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He could be spotted daily driving around the local towns and stopping at his favorite sites and local businesses in his green CRV, often with his daughter Eileen. John always had an interest in history and loved to share facts with his family and friends. He was proud of his Irish roots and in his retirement years he spent time researching the local happenings of his father's home village of Clogherhead, Ireland.
John was predeceased by, his parents, James and Brigid Byrne; an infant daughter, Valerie Byrne and infant granddaughter, Hazel Rose Perrotti. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy (McClain) Byrne of Manasquan; 2 sons, Matthew Byrne of Manasquan and Stephen Byrne and his wife Kelly of Wall; 5 daughters and 4 sons-in-law, Suzanne and Richard Dunlevy of Spring Lake Heights, Charlene and Mario Perrotti of Basking Ridge, Sharon and Joe Borio of Brick, Eileen Byrne of Bridgewater and Maureen and Nicholas Mazzone of Marlborough, MA. John is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Jacob, Dylan and Adison Byrne; John and Kiera Dunlevy; Aidan, Alexis, Liam and Jillian Byrne; Makayla, Mario and Lily Perrotti; his brother and wife, Thomas and Wendy Byrne of New York, NY.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Wednesday, September 18 from 5-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 am on Thursday, September 19 at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan. Interment to follow at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan.
