John R. Hamlin

John R. Hamlin, 96, of Waretown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Care One in Wall. John was born on April 25, 1916 in Belleville, where he grew up. In 1957, he relocated to Hazlet. In 1979, John retired and lived his winters in Marathon, FL, and his summers in Waretown. Before retiring, he worked as a foreman for Home Lite Corporation in Avenel. John was a Nascar enthusiast, and loved to be near and around the water. He always loved to go fishing and boating, and was a member of the American Power Boat Association. He also built and raced boats in the 1960's.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne (Dingle) Hamlin, as well as his first wife of 33 years, Virginia Doris (Dulany) Hamlin, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Hamlin. John is survived by his second wife, Virginia Hamlin; his loving children, John W. Hamlin of Matawan, Russell R. Hamlin of Asbury Park, Patricia Medefindt of Brick, Carolyn Francese and her husband John of Oakhurst, along with his step children, Edward Schiller and his wife Adele, Arthur Schiller and his wife Joann, and William Schiller and his wife Lynne. He is also survived by his 21 cherished grandchildren, and 11 adored great-grandchildren, along with another great-grandchild due in February. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 and from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3269 State Rt. 35 N, Hazlet.
